Great job on the Turok look and feel. Too bad there were no dinosaurs to add to it. I love the original Turok for the N64, that's the only one i've ever played. I no longer have my old copy but now you've got me missing it, so I think I'm going to have to buy it (again.)

I liked the map. I definitely felt the Turok vibe with some of the platforming sections and room layouts. Good length and all. Nearly died on the last room and couln't really believe it was the end already actually. Seemed... too easy. But maybe I was just expecting it to be way harder. It's like what Turok would've been if the platforming in it was way more precise.

Cool I'm going to check this out. I got a turok mod for doom btw with weapons and maps so far. To bad Doom doesn't have a workshop though it really should. Just glad Duke and Shadow Warrior does.

Thanks :)) yeah even i had my second thoughts about lava area. But i just went with it since it switches the scene up a little
Morgetiud 24 Jul, 2014 @ 5:20pm
awesome map, very well designed, didn't care for the platforming over lava though, but overall really nice map and it's also pretty lengthy taking me 44min to complete

Nice overgrown temple-like structures and cave systems with a smattering of alien-hive and high-tech. You did a good job capturing the jungle atmosphere. Even though the main path is pretty linear you provided alot of rock outcroppings and terraces to give a little vertical navigation and keep things from feeling flat and plain. There are a ton of aliens in this level, but combat never seemed really over-redundant. It was actually interesting to see the combos and placements change up from section to section. I'm an explorer and I take my time, so my only major gripe is the over-abundance of ammo and health. I never really felt in danger or have an urgent need to find the next stash of gear.
Overall it was quite an enjoyable experience and I hope you continue to make SP maps.

Yeah heheh the first game was the best to me to. Only 8 levels in that game but since there big maps it feels like alot more. Enjoy and thanks

Wow being a fan of ...uh i don know ALL of the turok games this looks sweet! I think the first game in the series left the biggest impression on me since the levels were gigantinormous, caves were spooky and around everyturn god knows what would await u. Just don't make any of those "Spirit Levels" anytime soon ;)
RockyBalbroa 14 Jul, 2014 @ 3:35pm
Right on man.
Sixty Four  [author] 14 Jul, 2014 @ 3:18pm
Wouldn't be a bad idea though, that game is another one of my favorites :)
RockyBalbroa 14 Jul, 2014 @ 2:25pm
You should consider recreating some 007: Goldeneye levels. That would be amazing and much appreciated. :csgogun:

Yes , after you subscribe you go to user maps on the menu and all subscribed items will be there. Aslong as they are marked single player if they are deathmatch then you will only see them in multiplayer options.

I know absolutely nothing about the Turok series, but this map is brilliant nonetheless. One thing I really liked was the ammo balance was absolutely spot on. In some areas, you'll run outta shotgun and chaingun ammo. Of course, you could use the pistol on enemies at sniping distance so you can save some ammo for the former. RPG placement is brilliant also and you will pretty much use all of your rockets before you complete the level. At least, it was like that for me.

The map sure involves a lot of trundling around and looks great too. Lotsa detail and many many hiding spots and caches of ammo, sure to keep you on your toes the entire time. It makes for a great 20 minutes of gameplay.

I only managed to find 6/9 secrets on the first playthrough, only makes me wonder what I could've possibly missed.

A great map overall, definitely recommended.

Sixty Four  [author] 12 Jul, 2014 @ 12:18pm
thanks appreciate it. Yeah i hope they do make a new game someday with it going on steam aswell... or re release some of the older ones.
Noctuary 12 Jul, 2014 @ 9:50am
I thought I was the only one who remembered... Too bad they shelved the series.
MerCurio 11 Jul, 2014 @ 4:48pm
I really like the map and how weapons/ammo/aliens was placed on the map , really good job :)
JackSkellington 10 Jul, 2014 @ 7:24pm
Really like the map really good job :b You know I am a single player only type of guy and I mostly would play eduke32, must say this was like taking a journey with a very original feeling! 27 minutes to beat 7/9 secrets for me.
Sixty Four  [author] 10 Jul, 2014 @ 4:04pm
Oh ye thanks :) I appreciate all! And the good comments to, there very helpful ye call them pro tips. I admit i am still learning and know i still got lots of improvement to go but im glad you enjoy this one :)) Turok is one of my favorites yes i do plan on making more, a level 2 and 3 which the gameplay layouts will be different in.
MikeNorvak 10 Jul, 2014 @ 7:41am
Duke please do all those changes Ness and I suggested, so you can release the map officially. :)

The Map is really fun Here is a video to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2BB4Zqenhk

(part 2 of my comment :)

My only real grip is that I played on CGS and I say there is a too much ammo and health everywhere. I was constantly full on shotgun ammo even though it's the weapon I used the most. Also, the map is so long, it would have been nice to get more different weapons along the way.
Also, the sprite on the "3D sprite structures" (like tables, bridge etc) aren't 1-sided, which makes them clip in 8bit. I know that's not needed for 32bit, but still it would only take a few seconds to do it and it wouldn't be a problem in 8bit either; not to mention that everything else looks just fine in 8bit.

Good map nonetheless, hopefully we'll see level 2 and 3 of this series!
Ness 10 Jul, 2014 @ 6:26am
Really cool map with a somewhat original theme and adventurous feel.
Just enough detailing to make it look good with good strong shading.
Rather long too as it took me 23mins.
Layout and progression is like in a modern FPS (reminds me of Hard Reset and the new Shadow Warrior) : reach new area, kill a horde of enemies, press a couple of buttons to go to the next area and repeat. Some of the 'secret places' feel like those modern FPS, too.

finaly u do normal map
underbound 10 Jul, 2014 @ 1:33am
everything was good. it's an interesting map and like it alot. only problem is when i died at random when i was near the exit switch or just probably just a dirty trap.

Very excited about a Turok base map, good job man! :boot:
MikeNorvak 9 Jul, 2014 @ 8:25pm
Hey, you have improved since the last maps. Love this map, the sector based terrain and spritework looks nice. It has an original and cool vibe that I really like, even if it has those green textures everywhere it doesn't feel repetitive. The gameplay works great with coop, I like the proggressive feel and vertical gameplay. Keep improving! :)
