@Fluffy @aurelia_alessio @ivy You've all made some good points, and I've removed that effect from the mod :)

Hello, I agree with @Fluffy. In Czech Republic, political parties obtain certain amount of money per a seat in parliament, if they reach a certain threshold of votes in elections (4 % currently). It is far better than privately funded political parties, because it causes political parties not having to accept private donors' money in exchange for pushing the donors' agenda.

Hello ! That's very cool ! ;)

I am reacting to the high increase in the rate of corruption associated with state funding of parties. In Belgium, parties are mainly financed by the State in proportion to their electoral results in the legislative elections. The aim is precisely to reduce corruption, and to avoid that political actors do not have too much lobbying power in relation to their democratic representativeness in society (the same thing exists for religious cults).

This does not completely prevent corruption, since some countries whose political parties are funded are also corrupt. It rather depends on the weight of the parties on the state

All countries inspired by the Napoleonic Civil Code have an independent state body whose officials are responsible for verifying and validating the national accounts of all administrations: "la Cour des Comptes" or "Court of Audits".
