Part of darkest dungeon is the team building due to rank requirements of skills. Botanist was designed from the ground up to be a healer and support unit in position 2 and 1.
Guess what that one skill she can use from position 4? IT PUSHES HER UP A RANK! She is never meant to be in position 4 and the one skill she can use in it removes her from it.
If you were to relax position requirements like i proposed (except for nightshade):
backline botanist would NOT replace vestal since she cant stun or heal for as much non-poison damage, but instead heals poison and applies stealth - a more niche role thats only situationally better
frontline botanist would STILL be incentivised due to stun, nightshade, and basic attack.
Vestal has 3 skills available in pos1; botanist has only 1 skill available in position 4
As well as being super fast (10 freaken speed!) to bonk and stun enemies
And while we're at it, why not have a full set of 4 skills to be available in pos4? Nightshade Brew is an obvious candidate. Now backliner Botanist has 4 skills with the caveat that Spores makes you want to run another character with Forward 1.

The botanist has a decent heal, decent blight, a stun, and the AoE acc debuff. Using the Debuff trinkets is an opportunity exchange instead of buffing her blight or heal.
On melee skill use. You will get those bonuses till you select a non-melee skill
- Added three new cross-mod trinkets
- Fixed a lot of localization issues with those trinkets
- Updated mod description to be updated with her most current skill effects
- Updated mod images to show most up to date trinket stats
- Updated mod description to include cross-mod support in it
