I cant believe thats why i died upon entering march ridge...
Wonder if they've patched this into vanilla :pecho_think:.

If you drive too quickly after entering a vehicle the door is registered as still open, found this out with the warthog mod where the door actually opens and closes, but stays open if you take off immediately, and I got bit twice that way.

Perhaps that one car animations mod would help indicate?

Oh you added two fucking spacebars in name
Unamelable 27 Nov, 2023 @ 9:21am
This mod doesn't appers in modlist

Ohh, so THAT'S how I got bit through my window-complete, fully repaired car door. Yikes

@Mulverine Just watched it. Glad someone is bringing light to the issue. Very frustrating to lose a playthrough this way. This mod shouldn't exist.

A great video from Retanaru on youtube sent me here. I only like playing vanilla but bs ways to die require fixing. Thanks for the mod!

Oh I see Drizzt addressed this previously but if you expect a "fix" by devs, you will be waiting a lifetime. you will more likely see animated vehicles that will reflect this at some point in time. also as UdderlyEvelyn pointed out, if you use any mods that use the same things this mod changes, it will break them also. This could be fixed a way better way, but i like the feature.
glad to see there is another option but would be even better if you could rename the functions @jackinthebox
Nippytime 10 Jan, 2023 @ 6:07pm
This is not a bug. this is intended by the devs. the reason it's hard to tell is because there are no vehicle animations. The reason you are being attacked from driving away too quickly after getting in is because you haven't closed your door, thus leaving you exposed to zombies. easy way to prove this is to use any of KI5 animated cars such as the R32 or power wagon, or literally any animated vehicle, you will see the door stay open when you drive too quickly after getting in. One of the main Dev of The Indie Stone, named Enigma Grey confirmed this before.
Laires 3 Jan, 2023 @ 1:50pm
is this still needed or has it been fixed?
Captain Torres 1 Nov, 2022 @ 1:23am
thank you man, ive been constantly getting bit while driving around my king tiger tank (max population zombs) so ive been dying literally the second i hop into my tank again, which still has 100% window condition on all windows...
i dont know how enigma can justify this, that man has no concept of what "quality of life" means in terms of updates.
UdderlyEvelyn 13 Sep, 2022 @ 11:49am
The way this is fixed overwrites a bunch of relevant functions (presumably reverting to previous version) to car door closing. It will be incompatible with any mods that do certain anything else with car door closing unless maybe this is loaded first.

Tags would be helpful.
I usually search mod by clicking on "Build 41" tag (at least).

Just lost another character to this thanks for the mod
Drizzt 9 Sep, 2022 @ 6:52pm
just to clarify my previous post - it is the movement of the car that interrupts closing the door - so if you are in multiplayer and another car hits you while you are getting in that could interrupt it etc - but generally it will just be if you immediately drive away when getting in

this thread has info (and links to other threads with similar info)

Drizzt 9 Sep, 2022 @ 6:52pm
the change is in preparation for the devs adding proper opening car doors - and so it will be like in GTA if you get into a car and immediately accelerate away, the door will still be swinging open - i think in GTA3 you had to take your foot off the accelerator for a moment for your character to then close the door properly (possibly the same in later versions - can't remember - been a while lol)

anyway - currently in PZ you can't know for sure if the door is closed unless you get out and get back in again and wait a moment for the timed action bar to disappear

however- it is pretty much only an issue if you get into a car which already has its engine running and immediately accelerate away - since that will interrupt the timed action of closing the door

but if the engine isn't running it won't be interrupted - since starting the car doesn't interrupt it
Metal Izanagi 9 Sep, 2022 @ 3:37pm
That is such a boneheaded change by the devs.
Tame 5 Sep, 2022 @ 5:44am
It's that 'the door' doesn't close, if you go too fast, and there is currently no way to shut the door when you're inside (like with windows).
toxic_train (aka SPA) 31 Aug, 2022 @ 3:11am
the post is easy to find. Google "zomboid car window bite".
UdderlyEvelyn 27 Aug, 2022 @ 5:52pm
The heck is that supposed to simulate? leaving your leg sticking out the door? Can you link us that forum post?
Xaelyn 25 Aug, 2022 @ 9:02pm
@Artimedias It was in the patch notes and confirmed by the devs on the forums that it was an intentional change, and not a bug.
Artimedias 20 Aug, 2022 @ 1:17pm
@Xaelyn this seems like a bug, not something added for realism.
Xaelyn 16 Aug, 2022 @ 8:20pm
Awesome, was hoping someone had a fix for this latest piece of 'realism' from the devs.
pineapple pizza 16 Aug, 2022 @ 5:00pm
yeah it just happened to me so installing this mod and enabling debug mod to remove the bite, rip my guys nuts. oh and it's surpising how the lead dev didnt fix it already
Dimm 16 Aug, 2022 @ 1:58pm
if you accelerate the car quickly after going inside it, it makes the character vulnerable to zombie atacks? how so? sorry i just dont quite get it, is this a new vanilla bug?
