@JessieFeathers
@Cubile Oddity

I apologize, I've been busy with things. I haven't tested/tried SoS2 1.5 throughly, as I recall from the beta, the who heat system has been reworked, which was the purpose of this mod, I will see where can I add more stuff if possible, chances I will upload a seperate mod than this, just so this one would work as is.
Cubile Oddity 26 May, 2024 @ 8:10am
Yes now that it has been updated can you make a 1.5 version ?
JessieFeathers 25 May, 2024 @ 4:27pm
1.5?
Atmey  [author] 31 Aug, 2023 @ 7:32am
@IndigoWing6479 I don't think this is relevant anymore, heatsinks has been reworked and many parts removed, might make a new version when the official release come about, but many things got it's mini version, like the shield.
sos2.5 for1.4 on github can update this mod?
Atmey  [author] 19 Mar, 2023 @ 2:43am
Official SoS2 page has to be updated first.
JessieFeathers 18 Mar, 2023 @ 9:31am
1.4?
Atmey  [author] 25 Feb, 2023 @ 7:04am
If it is possible through just xml files, then yes.
Cubile Oddity 24 Feb, 2023 @ 9:11am
but if it don't works like before you will update it right ?
Atmey  [author] 23 Feb, 2023 @ 11:02pm
Depends on how SOS is updated, if it is the same, it should work just fine.
Cubile Oddity 23 Feb, 2023 @ 6:05am
will you updated the mod after SOS2 1.4 will be updated?
Tia 5 Oct, 2022 @ 2:38am
Can we possibly interest you in making a Capacitor Array? :)
Atmey  [author] 13 Aug, 2022 @ 7:36am
@Regale: yes, the manifold makes it hotter faster, so you might want to cut back on these, also the same with the tanks, while I made them bleed heat a bit slower, 4 of these bleed faster than 1 heat sink. I guess the safest option is using the high capacity radiators.

@lordmizou98 sadly many parts are hard-coded, the engine kinda worked, but you at lease need one of the original 3 engines and the texture got mixed up for some reason, didn't try the bridge, but I think i'll face the same issue, what other parts do you think I should try?
lordmizou98 12 Aug, 2022 @ 1:34pm
can you please make everything smaller ? i like making small ships but the blocks can be too big
Regale 11 Aug, 2022 @ 10:49am
Is it just me or do the rooms seem to heat up way more with these?
NotTildaSwinton 9 Aug, 2022 @ 7:48pm
Good job not taking advice from some of the shadier people in this comment thread lol

I like the mod and agree with its use, thank you for making it
Killer Tamashi 9 Aug, 2022 @ 2:33pm
Yoo! Just what I was looking for. I did indeed run into the problem of making my ship 75% heatsinks just to survive a singular volley from some of the more advanced warships sos2 throws at you
jupiter 9 Aug, 2022 @ 2:18pm
your comments seem to be suffering from a turtle infestation too
Kokorocodon 9 Aug, 2022 @ 2:05pm
Your ship seems to be suffering a rat infestation, do you approve of this exterminatus?
TurtleShroom 9 Aug, 2022 @ 9:36am
If you can show me in the EULA where this is backed, I'll never give that advice again.

That said, to copyright derivatives of someone else's work is a legal nightmare, not to mention an act of hubris. Copyrighting is intended to grant an author exclusive use of their original work, be it for commercial purposes or personal use. A Mod is not a truly original work because it depends on existing code, and is therefore the property of Ludeon, in this case.
Malkiot 9 Aug, 2022 @ 6:42am
@Atmey, that's good. Turtleshroom was giving some dangerous "advice".
Atmey  [author] 9 Aug, 2022 @ 12:03am
I also asked Oskar about using sos2 retexture edits, he said nope, so I didn't use it.
Atmey  [author] 9 Aug, 2022 @ 12:01am
@Maklot, I am not using any of either SOS2 or SOS2 retexture code or assets, all the files here I created myself. it's just a single xml file if you download the mod.
Malkiot 8 Aug, 2022 @ 12:15pm
@TurtleShroom @Atmey That is bad advice. The RimWorld EULA does not restrict the type of license that mods as derivative works use. SOS2 not posting a particular license does not give you free use of their assets. Something being a derivative work also doesn't invalidate copyright, which is why EULA specifically address the creation of derivative works and the rights associated with that. In the case of RimWorld, Ludeon acknowledges the ownership of the derivative works (mods) as being with the creators of that mod but reserves itself the right to do pretty much what they want to do with your content, including sublicensing it to third parties, without needing further permission from you or needing payment. No such stipulation is made for other modders. As such, you can either get permission from the SoS2 team or from Ludeon to use their content.

TL;DR: Ask the SoS2 team, they hold the copyright for the content they've created. You can't just use it or modify it.
TurtleShroom 7 Aug, 2022 @ 11:52am
You should balance them. Just make them really, REALLY expensive compared to the larger, and require the advanced version's Research Project to make them.

Also, the principles I stated still stand for art. Don't try to sell it, don't ask for donations, don't pass it off as your own, and always give appropriate credit. Do this, and no one can stop you.
Kelarius 7 Aug, 2022 @ 6:12am
Really looking forward to trying this. I've always leaned towards smaller colonies and wanted smaller ships, but was hampered by the heatsinks needed to support shields. Thanks for making and sharing.
Atmey  [author] 7 Aug, 2022 @ 3:13am
@TurtleShroom it is art assets, not code, I am not sure how it works, but I prefer not to get in murky situations.

As for balance, they are better than the original, more OP, and slightly more expensive, IMO they are unbalanced.

@khaelion I didn't try, but I assume they are hardcoded, like the engines.
khaelion 7 Aug, 2022 @ 2:55am
Can you create smaller ship bridge?
TurtleShroom 6 Aug, 2022 @ 10:08pm
How does this Mod factor in balance? Obviously, smaller Ship Parts must be weaker, right? How do they compare with other Heat Sinks, for instance?
TurtleShroom 6 Aug, 2022 @ 10:07pm
You can't copyright modified code for someone else's video game. Media licensure is for original work. They technically don't own it. Unless Ludeon explicitly says otherwise in its EULA, you have every right to use their work. To do this, you must properly attribute them; furthermore, do not try to sell it or otherwise make money off of it (so don't ask for donations), and NEVER try to pass it as your own. Doing any of those things breaks Valve policy and will get you banned from here.

Otherwise, have at it.
