On that note, anyone who needs this mod to play the game: I'd appreciate it if you could contribute to this thread. Getting a list of the hardware afflicted by this issue would be useful. Cheers!
Huh, that's obviously quite the range.
I've had it crash on everything from budget intel atom netbooks to xeon workstations. It's definitely an issue, and their insistence that they can't replicate it makes me sad.
Thank you very much !!
Out of curiosity, did anyone compile a list of affected CPUs that this crash occurred on?
tl;dr don't harm the vorts.
Results were inconsistent - sometimes all it took was one hostile Xort to crash the game, other times I was able to have a dozen or so (plus a few Xontrollers) at once before things crashed.
There seems to be something wrong with the Xort specifically, somehow - Xontrollers work fine, they're still in use in this mod, and even though Earthbound Vorts are supposedly using the same AI as Xorts as of 1.0/1.5, I've never once seen the game crash because of them alone.
One thing I do want to explore later, as a separate project, is a "retro"-style Interloper, though, based off of the Xen Museum concepts. I think there's some really interesting stuff that could be done with the more HL1-esque Interloper from that.
More stuff in this case, doesn't equal more chance of crashing. Even if you hide far from the level with noclip, it'll eventually crash in the vanilla version, and this is so far the only real way to minimize the crashing.
This cannot be overstated how not okay this is. Crowbar Collective, FIX YOUR GAME. As amazing as this game is, a major release CANNOT have game-breaking bugs like this that just crash the game, this is worse than amateur, this is unprofessional. You are not done with this game as long as major errors like this are not addressed.
Shrek 2 - V2 of Chris' HD-styled sleeves. You can find them here. I've also got support for my own weapon models in my own uploads.
Grady - No, it's not. It does have some minor fixes that'll be present in BMSC Interloper, and I'll be using this mod as a basis when I get to Interloper, but other than that (and some slight reworking of one encounter to make it work well) this is vanilla Interloper.
