I didn't intend to sound "brittle," but no design is suitable for everyone. Up until this design, my early survival games on planets involved building my Popcorn Miner, but I wanted something a bit better and, honestly, a bit more stable (the Popcorn Miner, when loaded, rolls like a drunk sorority girl on a Friday night). But I wanted it cheap and compact, too. Hence, this design. Can it be better? Most certainly. I'll use it awhile and tweak the design accordingly. Or not. Who knows?

JK, this is not a competition, looking forward to the next, more efficient, iteration of this miner :selike:

The ship's drills clear, when drilling (not clearing) open a space only slightly higher than the ship's 3½-meter height so, yes, it does work. Yes, it's tight, but my playtime with it in a survival game occurred without a problem Sure, you can bang it up (or any ship) if you're rough with it, but this ship is supposed to be a low-cost, early-game miner to get a player going. My other, more advanced miners are significantly more robust.

Without trying the ship out, that cargo container looks mighty vulnerable. Are you sure the drills clear out enough space to let the container pass? Maybe you should put something on the ship to protect it. Armor panels, grated windows or the Scifi tube lights might do the job.

You should also consider replacing the upper spotlights with searchlights. If you turn random rotating and the tracking functions off you can set them to give tou a wider lit field of view. More lights down the sides, top and underside probably wouldn't hurt either Remember, it's dark in that hole.

Good luck!
