I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to control enemies. So I figure I was just being a bit stupid, and came down here to see if anyone else was having this problem, and they were I saw some people ask how to control enemies or other creatures from aside from a added on p2 entity. Yet I could not find a single response to those questions. No the only talk here is about something that isn't even the mods main feature. I honestly hate that. :steamthumbsdown:

This will require complete inventory rewrite which is the main reason why we never put any real time into it. Said rewrite just so happens to be one of our current priorities but, at the same time, coop mod is not among them.

For it to appear you must have the exact file present: [NOITA_INSTALL_DIRECTORY]/mods/mnee/init.lua. If there isn't one with that exact path - let me know, there can be multiple things going wrong in this case.

Nah, definitely not even close to being abandoned, just no time to spare for the last eternity and a half.
I can't actually believe these all are not features already, since they seem so nice and so obvious (only teleporting is unlikely to work, since it's really quite hard to find a proper teleport place that won't softlock the second player and dropping them right on top of the first one is not exactly fair either). I suppose that's what 24 hour limit does to UX.
I have a window of non-bullshit-dealing-with coming up pretty soon, so for sure will update those two as a warm-up.

4 - To teleport the second player near the first when he goes too far off-screen, instead of killing him (it would make it a little harder to cycle through wands, which is kind of op in my opinion).

5 - To give weaker wands (far weaker honestly) to the second player at the beginning. I think that the best would be a power level akin to the two beginning wands, or even better to the wands of the "nemesis" ennemy from the famous "new ennemies mod" (which are even weaker, with like 60 mana or so).


Just these 5 features in the options menu, and we got a very decent and fun two player gameplay :).

PS : Given the recent activity, I'm not sure that you're still working on this project anymore, and I would totally understand if you didn't. However I certainly do hope that kappa and M néé are not abandonned at this stage, because it kinda pains me to see that we're this close to 2 player noita!

Hey, here is a bundle of simple features that would really make this awesome mod more balanced (in my humble opinion of course) :

1 - Adding another option to prevent dropping the wand.

2 - Implementing another (optional) key to pick up wands or items, instead of automatically them picking up when near them. Even better, it could also be the same key that allows to drop wands !

3 - To destroy the wand of the second player on death, so that the main player can't just have free wands (even without the key, committing suicide is easily done).

The jumping of leaping creatures is directed by the crosshair, it's too a side effect of how the ai works and can't be really altered without loosing flexibility or/and compatibility. Same goes for multi jumping, vanilla enemies are just not designed to be controlled really, so they lack a lot of stuff and adding said stuff will require per-creature work.

Yep, controller support should initially real in M-Nee. Sooner than later hopefully.

M-Nee can be very buggy sometimes (I'm surprised it worked at all on the Deck) but it usually behaves better with english keyboard layout selected (idk how it works with gamepad controls). I have some ideas to fix this but didn't have time yet to actually attempt this.

The whole control scheme is designed to poke into already existing ai brain of the creature for maximum compatibility and it turns out that they don't really hover normally. It is definitely possible to do as a separate script, so I think I'll leave an option for that, since flapping is pretty irritating indeed.

Creatures like Hurtta can't properly leap horizontally, either, seemingly due to the left-right movement speed overriding the horizontal leap speed.

It would also be really useful for coop to have player 2 get more jumps.

The glitch seems to have gone away on its own! Hopefully it doesn't come back!

Though, I've also discovered that floating creatures fall straight down, and can only fly via flappy-bird-like controls, which is really annoying.

Gamepad controls definitely act erratically. I'm on Steam Deck, and even though the gamepad isn't even supposed to be registering, M-Néé seems to be randomly picking up left and right trigger presses from player 2 (I mapped the steam deck gamepad controls to keyboard for player 2, player 1 uses external mouse & keyboard). What's worse, changing the gamepad controls not to use triggers still results in the same behaviour of random wand firing of player 1 via player 2's right trigger.

Hopefully I can find the answer to this quizzical glitch!

It found it, it was just me thinking it would on the same page alongside the "move left" bind, apoligies. However even with the right settings assigned, I still can't find a way to possess anything, even in "pvp mode" and "manual selection mod on". But aside from that it's perfect

It is simply not proposing to rebind the move, it shows "move left", and nowhere else it shows "move right". So not really any errors messages showing

You should be able to change the mode in the settings (the "Spawn Friend?" one).
Rebinding bug is pretty weird though, it should either fail completely or at least spread the bugginess equally. Is it throwing an error or just refusing to change whatever you've submitted?

huh, interesting, do you see the init.lua in this folder? actually, perhaps a better solution would be to drop the screenshot of the contents of this folder (steam won't allow image uploading, so you'll have to send a link, imgur should do the trick)
