The newer design is much closer to my original intentions for the weapon as a "Gun for the Horsemann." The old design I liked at the time when i had first concepted it, but after sitting on for about two years both I as the concept artist, and Hau as the modeler had grown discontent with how clean and colorful it was in comparison to the Horsemann's Headtaker, which was clearly worn out and damaged.
The older version may have perhaps had a little more charm to it, but ultimately we decided we would rather correct it to what we had intended than to leave it unchanged or to simply have two different versions of the same weapon.
Great Work :)
Still a unique stat could be one that's cosmetic such as year around when you kill someone with the weapon a little ghost rises from them before disappearing.
Or on Nights such as full moon or the Halloween season the little Pumpkins could laugh as they they are fired, and could insult people on a direct hit.
Could even be class specific insults such as Hit on Scout: "Not Fast Enough!"
...assuming the clipping issue got fixed first, of course.
