Probably not, the tables it affects often go untouched, so it should be fine.

Eventually I'll play again, just been playing other stuff for a while.

No, I was not using any custom maps. I had a feeling it was vanilla, just wanted to double-check. Thanks!
Opposing Farce  [author] 7 May, 2024 @ 6:47am
Sounds like a vanilla bug. This mod doesn't touch siege towers in any way. Was it a modded siege map, too?

@Opposing Farce I ran into a significant bug but it might be vanilla. I'll mention it here in case this mod makes changes related to siege towers. I had 2 siege towers side-by-side reach the walls at the same time, one of them docked and allowed the unit to attack normally, the other looked like it docked but never lost the indicator on the unit card showing that it had, the unit never attacked, and the unit would not respond to any new move orders.

I'm tempted to think it's a vanilla bug, but I thought I would mention it here in case this could be related to something in the mod.

Makes sense.

Technically the leadership bonus applies to all defending units, regardless of their location on the map. So it applies if they run outside the settlement walls, or defending an interior control point.
MichaelGFI 5 May, 2024 @ 1:26pm
@Opposing Farce Great, thanks. Just for clarification, are these changes applicable to minor settlement battles wherever applicable, or just where you mentioned it in the description? Is the leadership bonus on for unit standing on the walls, inside the walls, or anywhere as long as they're defending?

@mikojb
Sure, go ahead! Nothing I've done here is complicated or clever, just some table tweaking for personal taste. I don't foresee adding or changing mod features, I'm trying to keep this lightweight and highly compatible.

The mod *should* still be fine, even if it is flagged as out of date simply because it makes some small edits to tables which aren't typically affected by updates. I've been meaning to come back to W3 and update my mods but it'll be a little bit.

@Opposing Farce I'm planning to do a showcase collection and video similar to this older one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUwcM8i-cHU&t=397s
on the best mods to improve the strategic experience post-ToD and I'd like to include this one in the test. Are you comfortable with the state of the mod right now, or would you prefer I wait before testing it?

Thank you for your work.

ohh I think it does work as is. I'll get back with you as I do more siege battles
Opposing Farce  [author] 15 Apr, 2023 @ 2:16pm
It should still work. I might get to updating it this weekend or next.
[OS] Raknar 15 Apr, 2023 @ 12:49pm
Any plans to update?
Deathhead 20 Sep, 2022 @ 6:42am
Ok, but thank u for your fast answer :) and the tipp how i could do it :D
Opposing Farce  [author] 20 Sep, 2022 @ 6:33am
Misread your comment, sorry

While making that mod is technically possible, it would result in a change to battle_entities_table, which while not as commonly used as main_unit_tables or land_unit_tables it would require a bunch of compatibility mods because the box has to be unchecked on a per unit basis. Such a mod is sort of beyond the scope of what I want to do, at least for now.

FWIW, it would be very easy to mod yourself. Just open battle_entities_table, find the "Can Climb Ladder and Stair Pipes" column, and make sure it's unchecked for every unit.
Deathhead 20 Sep, 2022 @ 6:20am
could you do a version of this mod where the attacker CAN T use ladders? i want that the enemy have to attack the gates :)
Stonecold Hasmenés 19 Sep, 2022 @ 10:06pm
Thats a shame... I generally love the siege tweaks in W3, but CA leaving the pocket ladders in really threw a wrench in the darn thing... Anyway your mod made the whole siege thing a lot better!
Opposing Farce  [author] 7 Sep, 2022 @ 9:00am
It is technically possible to disable ladders on a per unit basis, but doing so also disables a unit's ability to stand on walls. It's the same 'checkbox' in the data files. There's no way to uncouple these factors and make them separate checkboxes, either. The worlds most elite Total War Warhammer modding scientists have looked into it and only come up with dead ends.
Stonecold Hasmenés 6 Sep, 2022 @ 10:59pm
Love this mod, exactly what I was looking for. Do you think its possible to disable the pocketladders for infantry? My main complaint about walled sieges are those darned ladders, making the walls completely pointless.
If its not possible to mod out or its rather complicated I could imagine getting some serious buff on the top of the wall if you own the control point.
Opposing Farce  [author] 30 Aug, 2022 @ 3:06pm
I'll definitely consider it as I play more. For now, this mod has very few variables so if you open it with RPFM you'll be able to different items and change them as desired. For example, the morale entry is very clear. As is the tower firing arc.
SumFinn Math 30 Aug, 2022 @ 2:53pm
This is fantastic, but may even be a little bit too much? I do not suppose you would consider making a 'weaker' version, because ladders being so effective does make walls very ineffective, but more-effective towers and the morale bonus may be too much?
