i meant the bitabyte weight of the mod, i was expecting it to be some idk car overhaul, i didnt call your mod bullshit, just the fact it was this mod.

@ghostboi I would be very surprised if this crashed a server, I have not updated anything and as far as I know, nothing major got updated either. Did you get a specific error message? what version? does it crash specifically when a person starts smoking? my mod only adds some sounds during smoking, not much opportunity for it to crash..

Also I cannot guarantee to keep compatibility with 287 mods... so please refrain from calling my mod "random ass small bulshit" if you can't even be bothered to properly test it without any other mod. Should I start calling you bullshit too when you do not fit any unrealistic expectations? lol

Crashes multiplayer servers, do not recommend, me and my bro were fighting locating the problem withing 287 mods and it was this random ass small bullshit.

Yeah I meant my mod, sorry to hear that it didnt work, I don't really want to change it myself in case older servers and whatnot which still run on b41 aren't affected. We only recently made a colobarative compatibilty patch, so that might give problems

(oh by your instruction i assume you meant replace the media folder with the b42 ver in your mod, not their mod).

I tried doing that, seems like it didn't. Well, at least not with Smoking Sounds Overhaul -> True Smoking in the load order. I guess I didn't try True Smoking -> Smoking Sounds Overhaul load order, but I assume it wouldn't have made a difference.

In the end I think I will just uninstall True Smoking, as I love these more detailed sounds your mod provides.

Heya! I added the compatibility for true smoking only to b42, if you want to use it in b41, you could try copying the media folder in the "42" folder over the media folder in the previous folder, I think that should work.

Hello, I am on B41, and trying to add True Smoking and Smoking Sounds your mod to my server. But I receive stack traces from True Smoking, the mod seems to work fine, mechanically, but when it comes to Sound I am missing Sound "inhalation/exhalation" I suppose during the puffing sequence. The new sounds play for starting a smoke, but it's completely quiet.

I have this mod, True Smoking, and I Might Need A Lighter.

Heya! thanks for the tips. I see, I tried normalizing them in audible, but I mostly did this manually.
I could see if I can run that function on the sounds, also I will give the high pass a go thanks!
All recordings came from random sources and with extremely varying quality so I'm not that surprised haha, I didn't notice it before but I think that's probably on me :P

I'm not sure, but sometimes it sounds like the male character has female smoking sounds and vice versa.

The main feedback I have for you is that the sound FX seemed rather loud compared to the rest of the game. I "normalized" them using that function in Audacity to bring them down -6db and this makes them sit in the mix much better, IMO.

I'd also suggest applying a fairly aggressive high-pass filter to get rid of any energy below ~100Hz... there are a few plosives or other rumbles that come through on a few of the recordings which sound unnatural.

@Darkweave heya! I did a quick test for you with only my mod enabled and matches and lighters do go down in durability for me. So I'm assuming its a conflict with some mod? I was planning to change the code slightly for more compatibility anyway, perhaps that will help.
I'll see if I can put out an update soon

I think this is stopping lighters/matches from being consumed. I noticed mine had lasted ages, checked and it hadn't drained at all in 50+ smokes. Disabled this mod and it is now draining again. B42. Love the mod otherwise! :)

I have looked at the animations myself but I couldn't find anything that I recognized or could get something out, I had heard the animations were done pretty uniquely, so to say :P
Maybe one day we will be able to properly adjust anims, someday

Fair. It sucks theres no emote for smoking in B42 either, at least that i tried to look for haha.

The default length of pz smoking is barely 10s so yeah it is kinda short.
I have plans somewhere to extend them but honestly its alot of work and idk if I'll ever do it

It goes way too quick and you never hear the sound last.

some of the male sfx aren't actually smoke exhales too (spoiler) haha, I edited them bc so many had popping mics, bad quality bg noises etc. etc. and I wanted to have as much variety as I could.

Basically its almost impossible to find female exhale sfx lol or smoking for that matter, they're 90% male, and I already boosted these and made them louder compared to the male sfx but they're not the best/it decreases the quality of them. I also wanted to use 3 different sfx, so those were the only ones I found with no background noice etc :P So that's mostly why, I could have a look(listen) to them again one day to see if I can make them more similar to one another or if other sfx have popped up, the big factor is just the quality difference is so bad, some are perfect but most have ambience etc, background noises and the like, which is unfortunate.

I should yeah but I havent gotten that far yet, its quite a task to switch them to 60s, and there's also already a mod which has customizable smoking times which might be nicer.
So yeah I also hope I'll make it one day but the motivation just isn't there yet sorry!

You're totally right, I made it so SSO's sound will play for all smokeables, except bong ofc :P
Hopefully it is fully compatible now!

It is a bit incompatible with J's Green Fire, because once the packaging function of J's Green Fire is used for vanilla boxed cigarettes, your sound effects cannot be applied to the unboxed cigarettes. Only vanilla cigarettes are effective.
