Vlad should definitely have Siege Attacker. That was part of his character before they just gave it out to everyone.

Of course, it would also be nice if CA could remove ladders from the game completely or at least allow modders to do it, and then sieges would be finally fixed forever... but, ah well.

It actually looks like the game was designed without ladders in mind and ladders were added in at the last minute or something.

I just found out through testing that Vlad no longer has Siege Attacker anymore like he always used to have.

Also, while on the topic of siege attacker... It would be nice if there was a mod that could merge or imply the Wallbreaker attribute to all units that have Siege Attacker, since currently Siege Attacker does absolutely nothing and makes no difference in battles, and only affects the campaign by allowing you to start battles immediately. It doesn't allow units to attack walls or even gates like the tooltip implies, since every single unit in the game can attack gates with or without the trait. So it would make a lot more sense if all units with Siege Attacker also had Wallbreaker, like CA has already done with the Ogres, and presumably has not gotten around to doing so yet for the other races... AFAIK not even gargantuan monsters have Wallbreaker in this game, which makes no sense.

Hi @Mr.Soul checked the mod with RPFM and I saw a few lines that were missing or that shouldn't be there IMO. I took reference from TWW2 and TWW3 pre patch 2.1 to check what had Siege Attacker and what didn't.

Just to name a couple of examples I noticed Belegar Ironhammer lost his Siege Attacker trait, as Be'lakor did. Going by pre patch 2.1 standards they both should have it.

On the other hand I noticed a couple of later entries were not given the skill by CA. I'm referring to the Ice Witches on the Frost Wyrm, when the beast has the attribute itself.

Let me know if you are interested in checking what I did and possibly use it, either fully or partially, to update the mod, or if you prefer I keep it as a separate option to this. I'm happy to do either.

Mod is causing a CTD when right-clicking on a unit card, inside and outside of battle. Verified by launching game with only this mod enabled and starting a new campaign with different races. Existing saves with the mod previously enabled work fine after disabling the mod. Game version 4.2.2.

unit page crashes. the problem is in one table referencing a halberd option that does not exist. if you have RPFM it can be switched out for any other (sword or axe or spear) with minimal game effect.

just wanted to report that this mod causes CTD after the new patch 4.2. Crash happens when clicking Aranessa for some reason.

(tested with only this mod enabled)

thanks for answering :D, perhaps it could be done so that their priority list is changed so that they will be wall phobic, but that's just my idea I don't know anything about coding thanks again:steamdance:

no unfort only thing can find alters that option, also disables infantry being able to man walls too. So can have both, but not just one of those two options. If I discover anything more in the future tho, ill keep it in mind.

Doesn’t need one(for CTD at least), tested it alongside my “mega mod”, it’s working, and Harry shouldn’t have it as he is a hero but I’ll double check that when have time and update as needed.

Thinking very least see if can’t add a dummy in for ladders(where towers and rams are), so have a 1 turn investment while build their butt ladders

I will add to that, i think, it would also prevent you from attacking the defenders, shoot all ammo, withdraw, break siege and attack again with full ammo. As it would reset/cancel the siege equipment preventing you from attacking again.

To be honest, I never thought about this...but thats an interesting idea...removing siege attacker at all could be a good start, enforcing at least one turn to build ladders/"prepare". It also make building walls more interesting for the AI as it would slow down the player's progression significantly more.

yup, and im thinking like, maybe there's way to not remove the pocket ladders but instead you remove siege attacker entirely. Hear me out. Then always have to wait at least one turn, cos see if theres a way to add in a dummy siege equipment for "ladders". Still have pocket ladders, but have to "build them" first. All smoke and mirrors but I'm gonna try work on that next as a simple way to address what you're talking about, and maybe...maybe expand on it from there. This for now obviously, just a simple revert of 2.1 and will remain that way unless it's ever changed, then I'll happily remove this lol

on the other hand, there is still no reasons to have to build siege equipment to successfully attack and win a siege in their current form because of the pocket ladders. So needing the "siege attacker" to be able to attack at all is stupid in this case as you dont even need equipment...

Now that doesnt fix the inerrant problem about siege of course not! But in the context of how siege works currently I can get why they did that, sadly instead of fixing them.

Is it the fixed I wanted? Of course not.

np, and @pyro, ya silly silly CA. I'd recommended too, I mean be "nice" about it, but there's the official discord feedback channel, Total War forums etc, go express your opinions. Who knows how many people may be out there that just need to see someone else take issue with it to speak up too. Might be fruitless, but they do listen and they're asking for feedback from us, so never know.

@serj I know of no way to cleanly remove it as it is only present in that table, should I find a way tho ya be best way to do it but, I don’t think you can. Any lords that have it I removed tho from my table, ie just ones I altered in there and no have no clue how might conflict tho in my experience often one just over write the other
