@Lanmaster53 they were never merged because I only made the changes for myself. If gimmickedjack wants to apply the fixes in his mission, I explained my approach to them in sufficient detail, but I will not reupload his mission with my fixes as that would be very unethical. I only made the fixes for myself. Decrypting vtol vr workshop files is not public domain knowledge and it's best it stays that way imo

Yeah and I was also able to hotfix the wingmen situation in the way I described previously.

I added a sequence trigger for each of the wingmen that checked if they are landed with less than 95% fuel, if so they get destroyed (blow up as soon as the wheels touch down), 5 seconds later they respawn, then take off, then join up on the player. One sequence node for each of these actions to ensure they are executed in the order I want them to.

Also feel free to add this in :)

Or if you want I can just send you my vst file and you can work off of that if you prefer.

!!! That actually worked! After quickloading and verifying that I've lost the control of a base, using a trigger to force update a base's team works!

In my case I just set an condition where emerson's AFB global value was 1 and the clear waypoint button was pressed in the cockpit. If both conditions are true, then it just force sets emerson's team to allied.

So yeah, if you'd like, you can setup a trigger in the same spirit for each base. And perhaps add it to your mod's description so people are aware this is a game bug and for them to keep in mind how your workaround works :)

In the meantime I'll keep playing with my own workaround locally.

Next up, I'll fiddle with an auto respawning logic for landed allied planes and see if that plays well.

Also, after further testing I've noticed that dying isn't part of the problem. It's quickloading in general, regardless if the quicksave was automatic or manual. I cannot reproduce auto quicksaves helping the situation.

What I'm going to try next is making a trigger that will look at the global variable you are setting for the Emerson base, and that will force set the base to allied if it's set to 1 and the player comes close to the airbase! Let's see if this is able to restore the airbase after a quickload

I always perform manual quicksave! Wasn't aware that you auto quicksaved at all until I started looking at your mission in the editor. But I would never guess that those auto saves prevented the issue. Interesting.

Then I'm curious to test capturing base A, no manual quick save after that, capture B, kill myself, quickload and see if I still own base A!

And I'll also try setting an event for wingmen where when they go to rearm, a couple minutes later they just get respawned. A hotfix of sorts, see how it goes :)

@DoraTheExploda No worries haha. I refuse to believe Maxen was actually serious with his tone, anyway. Both of the issues you brought up are game bugs, unfortunately. I've tried to find what causes the rearm issue to happen in this mission, but I've never been able to reliably repeat it.

I forced the mission to auto-quicksave right before a base switches from hostile to friendly control, which seems to prevent the quickload bug on my end if I don't manually hit 'quicksave.' If you do overwrite the auto-save with your own quicksave, though, there's a chance of the bug popping up. Do you manually hit quicksave or does the bug still happen after an auto-quicksave for you?

While I don't agree with Maxen's tone, the issues he brought up are a pain point for me on this mission. perhaps it's because i'm still new at the game and that it's actually reallistic to complete the whole mission without getting shot down once, but alas I'm far from it.

I do have the issue of reloading after dying prevents me from rearming at bases I conquered, essentially resets the bases.

And also, my wingmates seemingly get stuck after landing the first time for refuelling/rearming. Never take off again after that. Unsure if this is a game or mission bug.

I'm really enjoying the mission but these issues make it too frustrating. Any chance of these issues getting addressed?

How about you make a map that actually fucking works? The instant you die or load a save it removes all of the captured bases from your comms options and you can't refuel at them anymore. Are you fucking braindead? How can you overlook something like this? This is literally necessary to progress to the next bases. Moron fuck thinks I'm gonna fly for half an hour back to the carrier every time my ammo runs out. Garbage map.

So far, the best level/mission/scenario I have ever played in VTOL VR.
There is a lot of variety and a lot to do. Must have been very complex to create it.

Ser, this mission is absolutely fantastic. However I encountered a bug. When using quicksave, if you load again the liberated air strips are no longer in your control. You will be unable to communicate with captured air bases and unable to reload your aircraft there.

In any case this mission is amazing. Great work!

the save feature is only for quicksaving. You can't exit the game to come back later to continue.

This is definitely an awesome mission but it would benefit massively from a save feature added to VTOL VR. I know a linear campaign version would kind of ruin what you were going for with this but its something I would definitely play if you ever decide to create it. Even if you just split it up into two missions it would help a ton in playability IMO.

Not possible in vtol at the moment. I've been thinking about moving this over to a campaign format where capturing an area would unlock the next "mission" that starts with that area already captured. But it would really take away from the open-ended aspect that I'm going for, since it'll have to be designed linearly.

Normally, you should be able to rearm and refuel at Marion. I do recall that on some rare occasions, the first airbase you capture can be a bit buggy with the status not switching from hostile to friendly. I'll push an update to fix it if I find a way to make it more stable.

Can I rearm at Marion? (second enemy airfield I think) After capturing it I land and try to rearm in one of the hangars but it says I'm not close to a rearm station and sends me a waypoint to the starting island airfield.

If you're talking about a singleplayer version for the attack helicopter, it is a no for the near future since all my focus is currently on a multiplayer version. Though, the multiplayer version will have every vehicle available to use, including the AH-94, as well as specific missions for each vehicle ;)
