That's a short motif from 'Funeral of Queen Mary'. Particularly a synth version from Clockwork Orange. It's my own very quick recording though.
I don't think I would have figured out how the four buttons control the 3x3 pegs without looking at the walkthrough. In hindsight it seems fair, but thinking of it as a cursor isn't something that would have occurred to me.
