I have to say this is a nice mod! I wish I found it sooner. Really improves the Venator which seemed to be underwhelming. I thought of it being as a combination of a carrier and a battle-cruiser all in an neat beautiful package. I do say it is a battle-cruiser warship-wise because you could say it sacrifices armor and maybe even extra armaments for carrier capacity but it can still throw a hard punch and take one.

Extra thoughts of mine, I thought of the Venator being 2/3 the size of a ISD and the Venator could have served the Empire well but they opted for, despite the ISD's heavier armaments and armor, intimidating Star Destroyers and they are only bigger to look big.

TCW is a joke where a single Munificent shot can take out a Venator, both ships are nearly the same size, and the Venator has 10 more main battery turrets on the bottom.

Nearly all databooks that matter (Guide to Warfare, Cross Sections, RPG guidebooks, Starships of the Galaxy, Guide to Vehicles) since Episode 3 released and before TCW's specific databooks was a thing call the DBY turrets Heavies with the ability to lower their fire power to fire faster with they are directly connected to the ship's reactor that sits between them under the superstructure.

Yall keep talking about lore. I saw clonewars, had the standard heavy DUAL turbolasers that all shoot. even guild books say it has em. so what lore yall talking about. I love the people who make this mods more than my own family lmao, but yall stay doing the most for the most iconic ship outside of the ISD. JUST MAKE EM RIGHT BOYS

It's different. Trades some things for other things so there's no straight buff or debuff compared to what exist in the mod already.

Yes if you want Vader to spawn in with the Venator then it needs a new start since files that control hero spawns are loaded only on GC start

im using this mod and loaded back into my save file the only thing i cant see is vader using a venator everything else seems to be working its an absolute beast now with those broadside heavy turbos
does the mod require fresh GC start to work fully

Neither. It changes it's entire role rather than straight making it better or worse.
It has more damage potential from the main 8 guns but they have a limited fire arc and there's no SPHA-T anymore for the close range.
Vader's Venator is a buff since that removes the fire arc limit, changes the guns to quads, gets the SPHA-T, and adds Ion Cannons.

I am one of the Remake devs.
This is a change because we changed the ISD I to be more lore accurate to make it differ in playstyle more to the ISD II and i hated how effective the tiny ass Venator still was in front line combat with all it's guns able to fire forward which it in proper Legends lore cant do and the fact that it had the SPHA-T which was ONLY on Anakin's Open Circle 5th Fleet Venators RIGHT BEFORE going to Coruscant.

I legit just got tired of telling people "Personally I'd like it like this" when people kept talking about how good it was in the mod and just did it so i could play with a lore accurate and more interesting ship. Now this ship matches our ISD-I with the broadside only heavy turbolasers but is weaker because it fires much slower and there's no silly SPHA-T to make you want to close the distance and get the ship killed in the process.

THANK YOU, after seeing the EAW:RE devs basically arguing that the venator was always overpowered in mods with how they handled it in 4.0 I almost gave up on having it being of real value.

Seriously they were arguing not long after 4.0's release that the venator was never supposed to be a frontline ship and should not be stronger than a RL heavy cruiser equivilent.

I believe that it's this mod, but because I haven't used anything else, but when you upgrade vader from his venator to the ISD, you end up with both ships for some reason...

Update
- Fixed Turret angles on Vader's Venator (Needed to be slightly more than 90 degrees to be able to target true forward)
- Fixed Venator's auto-targeting angles (The angles the enemy would need to be before the turret tries to target it without an attack order)
- Increased broadside non-targetable trench hardpoint fire arcs.
- Slightly increased the turret rotation limit of the trench mounted turrets.

You as the player need to use the ship different just like the ISD-I
Put it sideways to the enemy. Put it on the flanks. You want the ship Broadside if you want to be using those guns.

My point: if Venator has the turrets, they have to shoot something, right? Maybe not powerful, maybe slow, but have a target. Right now they shoot open space. Technically Venator has 8 main guns, but in reality only 3 (rockets and two that can turn

but the difference between lack of firepower and really useless side canons is noticeable. Most of the enemy ships won't even get close to Venator sides, only dog-fighters and bombers, but heavy lasers wont even scratch them. I'm do not argue that Venator shoud be niche carrier, it has not much weaponry to deal with at first place, but now even Acclamator will deal more direct damage. I dont know why you need to even build Venator now. You have Ton-Falk for carrier, you have Victory (or Acclamator) and Imperator-1 for firepower.
Venator is squishy for Star Destroyes class, has only 8 of main guns, carries medium amout of fighters. But it's supposed to be jack of all trades, maybe good at everything, but ever exellent. Now it's just at the edge of trash.

Venator is SUPPOSED to lack firepower. It's not a frontline combat ship meant to be slugging it out with other capitals. It's a Carrier-Cruiser. The ship is hollow and only really has it's 8 main guns for weapons of note. The fire arc restriction is intended to highlight this but got stronger guns it's supposed to have to go along with it. The Hangar and long ranged artillery is what it's for not for it's ship to ship combat potential.

Vader's Venator is meant to be kinda like the ISD-II is to the ISD-I. More direct combat focused which is why it has the SPHA-T, ion cannons to drop shields and debuff the enemy and is supposed to have frontal firing guns for all 8 main guns.

It makes them useless in double. Yeah, maybe in-lore Venator can't turn main cannons, but it's thin edge between in-game mechanics and lore. Im not really into modding and can't change it, and really love that small change with your mod, but i think, Venator deserve a little better, especially for the price you have to pay to build it. I mean, SPHA-T was a powerfull weapon and doen not need to be in every other Venator, but i think now it really lacks of firepower without all turrets ability to turn. Because the reasons above, and because you can't take it to position to shoot what you need to shoot.
Consider, please, to make those small changes and make Venator a decent starship.

i think, that is the main problem: Vader's Venator and the old one can shoot all forward, unlike the lore friendly one, but it put the new one in a strange situation. Because Venator not really tough ship and can't withstand an close combat between ships to make new battery useful. Right now, it looks like this: you point to a target, it will shoot missiles and two other cannons what can turn, until missiles port are destroyed (what happens really fast because it's the first target for bombardment), and other cannons just trying to shoot fighters because they have no other targets in reach, but look, they are heavy single turbolasers, and can't really hit the fighters.

Huh Vader's ship with the Quads was meant to be able to fire all forward unlike the normal Venator. Must've not given it the right model with the turret angles. Will fix it soon

Love the idea, especially with shield generator and Predator for Vader and black squadron, but. I think, he's really weak right now, and not because of removal of SPHA-T, but because only two turrets of the main battery can turn and shoot forward. When you right-click to point the target, Venator always will turn forward, so, we have only two turrets and rocket launcher to shoot where you need them to shoot. It's really frustrating.

could you make it so it has more fighters deployed. for example instead of 2 tie fighters with 6 reserve make it 4 with 4 reserve or even better 8 with 16 reserve

Anyway to update Vader to this mod in an already playing campaign? Sry if it's a noob question. I just installed the mod but my Vader in my saved campaign is still showing as "Black Squadron"

- Darth Vader now starts with a special Venator named Predator. This Venator has Quad Turbolasers that can fire forward. Untargetable Lasercannons have been replaced with Ion Cannons. He gains a SPHA-T. Comes with Lieutenant Tanbris commanding Black Squadron as a garrison.

just so folks are aware, Venator cant be bought when using the Clone Wars mod due to the Shipyard being named differently in the files. Match the Shipyard name (for the Republic Version of the Republic Venator) with the one in the Clone wars mod using Notepad++ and you should be able to buy Venators.

honestly the Venator with the SPHAT should be its own seperate variant, which has the open circle logo. Otherwise it would be the same as republic venator, but would be slightly more expensive. That or make it a hero unit / command ship.

Anakin had a few Venators in his personal fleet modified at Allanteen VI right before the Battle of Coruscant. It wasnt some midwar refit it was a last minute attaching the tank cannon to the ship power. That's it.
And it being used in the movie doesnt mean much because it was used only one time by one ship in all of SW lore. There's only a minor mention that others in the Open Circle 5th Fleet also did it but it has never been shown anywhere else in Legends lore..

SPHA-T never should've been on the ship to begin with. It was only added in the first place as a homage to Republic at War putting them on every ship. They gained a shield hardpoint so the hull HP went there.
The ship has alot more firepower potential now with the heavy turbolasers and you dont want the ship to be close enough to use the SPHA-T anyway.

I will likely update this with the SPHA-T back on but for a special hero Venator for Vader in place of Black Squadron(But make them part of the garrison) given the SPHA-T in lore was ONLY on a select few Venators in Anakin's personal fleet since it was his idea to strap the tank to the ship's reactor and fire it out the hangar.
