I'm not entirely sure if things have changed wih the latest update, primarily because I think my Makarov skin has been broken recently and won't work anymore. On top of that, it's been a while since I did any skinning for Insurgency, so I can't remember much of the process at all.

By any chance can you explain how you have this mod working? I work on skins myself, and in this most recent update I can't get any of them to work in game. I am not a super experienced skin maker so I'm not sure what I can do to fix them. The weapons i'm working on are the m9, 1911, and mp5 currently. I have the models made but cannot get them to show up properly.

Currently im exporting my VTF's to this directory. Example being the m9

F:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom\skins\materials\models\weapons\m9 then wpn_m9_d.vtf

I'm not sure if the directory is the issue or what. Hopefully you can enlighten me. I spent 6 hours messing with it today and couldn't get them to work.

The green versions of the FAL are not as dark or shiny, and are actually made from plastic, not wood. The hand grip is also green. Here's an example from PhotoBucket [s818.photobucket.com].
