This was a really good map as it felt just like a normal Portal 2 Single Player map in difficulty, not too hard but not super super easy either! I really like this as it seems most maps you find on Steam Workshop are way to hard and not fun at all to play while this was very fun to play. I will be checking out your future maps as I was impressed with this one!

Simple, fun, logical chamber! Thanks!

More fun,thanks.

I was reading over your replies to wildgoosespeeder, and you're seriously misinterpreting my guide. I've met enough stubborn mapmakers who refuse to put the player back to a position where they can finish the test, and I don't need any more. You should never, ever assume the player will always be competent enough to finish your test correctly.

On the bright side, you've once again overestimated the difficulty and so I was somehow able to avoid getting trapped at all. This one was fairly mindless to me.

haha true that! I'm going to consider switching, but I guess I'll just keep them in this order. thanks so much again for the comments and ideas!
TS_Mind_Swept 24 Jul, 2014 @ 4:16pm
you could just make something to take the dual portal device and replace it with the single, when i first had 2 portals i didn't even realise it right away cause there was nothing that switched them. Otherwise you're going to have ppl thinking it's going to be harder wher it's not and complaining about it all day long. :p2turret:
Acid Regulation  [author] 24 Jul, 2014 @ 4:00pm
as I said somewhere else, it originally was the final chapter. but it wouldn't make sense to end with a map with the single-portal gun. so I just thought "screw it! I'm putting it first."
TS_Mind_Swept 24 Jul, 2014 @ 3:43pm
well i was going by the first one with my difficulty expectations, maybe you should make that one #4 and all the rest of them up one. That is, if you wan't them to increase in difficukty as the series goes and not seem like it's going all over the place.
Acid Regulation  [author] 24 Jul, 2014 @ 3:04pm
I never said they were supposed to be hard. the first chapters and puzzles of the singleplayer are also easy peasy, lemon squeezy (pun intended)
TS_Mind_Swept 24 Jul, 2014 @ 3:00pm
still pretty easy, i think you should make ppl work for the cube more, and honestly, these files are turning out a bit lemony. :s 7/10
zazaza 23 Jul, 2014 @ 1:01pm
Cool and interesting, but not particularlly challenging.
Realmccoy 20 Jul, 2014 @ 7:22am
ok thanks
Acid Regulation  [author] 20 Jul, 2014 @ 6:42am
I don't know. I only use BEEmod and Hammer.
Realmccoy 20 Jul, 2014 @ 5:53am
nice maps .. question for you , is there different mods for building,
Acid Regulation  [author] 19 Jul, 2014 @ 6:50pm
yeah I could implement that maybe! make some custom music, great idea! thanks
dmuk 19 Jul, 2014 @ 6:49pm
A decent deployment of the fizzling-finite-state-machine, where picking the right sequence of steps is the key (sounds sort of redundundant when I say it that way) I like your decorations and textures; how about some of your music to set the mood?
wildgoosespeeder 19 Jul, 2014 @ 11:29am
@Bayram
I'm glad to see someone that shares my ideals. I like to play by the usual rules because I want my playtesters to have the best experience possible while still providing them some reason to play my maps.
Acid Regulation  [author] 19 Jul, 2014 @ 11:08am
thank you, that is exactly what I mean. livin' on da edge.
Bayram 19 Jul, 2014 @ 11:05am
wildgoosespeeder: I think Acid Regulation is a kind of maverick map maker who likes to go outside of the usual rules and conventions. He's getting a lot of thumbs up, so good luck to him and if he doesn't want our advice, that's his prerogative.
Acid Regulation  [author] 19 Jul, 2014 @ 11:00am
alright, this is getting ridiculous. give up on me please. ok? it's not worth YOUR time. also, it's a GAME. it's NOT real life. I gratefully thank you for taking the time to make my maps better. but truthfully, I'm not gonna. think of me want you want.. I don't care.
wildgoosespeeder 19 Jul, 2014 @ 10:57am
Consider this: Even though this is a game, what if this is reality and it is really you that gets trapped and not the player character? Then I told you to commit suicide. What if suicide isn't possible? You wouldn't like the idea. Now back to it being in the context of a game. It is consider a design flaw. Kill the player if you have to but death should be based on a logical mistake, not cheapness or suicides. Read this:

it has nothing do with pride or something by the way. this whole puzzlemaking is just a relaxing way to spend my summer. if you really want me to do things with your comments, check my music. (in my day to day life I am a musician) that I take very seriously and I actually use the critisism to make my music better: https://soundcloud.com/markvanrijswijk

"Suicide should never be the answer" agree

"when it comes to single player maps." to disagree.

I think you both know by now that I'm a hardass and I'm not going to change this map. I have had other maps where you can trap yourself and you need to die to restart. it actually made some people realize that they should never make that mistake again, instead of accidentally doing it again. "no, can't do that, 'cause then I'll die" is just a quote out of a BR by a fellow member. so my point is; something that you think is bad, may not be bad for someone else.
wildgoosespeeder 19 Jul, 2014 @ 10:34am
Suicide should never be the answer when it comes to single player maps.
Acid Regulation  [author] 19 Jul, 2014 @ 10:30am
so jump in the goo and die? it says so in that guide.
Bayram 19 Jul, 2014 @ 6:29am
Way too easy. I was hoping that the puzzles would get more interesting as the series progressed, but it's not happening. I'm also a bit disturbed by your "well too bad" response to wildgoosespeeder. He's trying to help you make good maps. Good maps make sure that the player does not get trapped wherever he goes. Getting trapped leads immediately to a feeling of frustration.
CatThing 19 Jul, 2014 @ 5:41am
good
Acid Regulation  [author] 19 Jul, 2014 @ 3:03am
I've already thought about trapping. it made the puzzle easier, I had it way harder than this. the way that you got trapped is not a a way how you can get trapped when you just try to solve the puzzle.
wildgoosespeeder 19 Jul, 2014 @ 1:44am
Needs fixing! It ruins the flow of the chamber if trapping occurs!
Acid Regulation  [author] 19 Jul, 2014 @ 1:43am
well too bad.
wildgoosespeeder 19 Jul, 2014 @ 1:36am
I got trapped just by exploring! I had the cube on the other side of the fizzler, both portals near the exit, and nothing on the exit button!
Acid Regulation  [author] 17 Jul, 2014 @ 4:33pm
no problem. I hope it will work for you later. tried it myself on a different computer with a different username, and it worked fine. and thanks for your compliments! have a good one yourself too ^^

yo. take a chill pill. have you tried restarting steam? I haven't had complaints from other people, so it might just be your computer's fault.
