There are too many of these houses all over Russia and too many people live in them, their demolition and relocation of people to newer houses is almost impossible. They will disappear only after they fall apart. And then, they will be replaced by ugly new panel houses-anthills, in which mostly marginals, newcomers or the poor now live. In St. Petersburg there is a whole separate area of such houses and believe me, they are even worse than what you can observe on this map. So, normal affordable housing will not appear in Russia soon if the government does not change.
