its weird and kinda lazy how people that makes maps add these textures that replace the vanilla ones when they can just rename them so only the map they make use it while leaving the vanilla ones alone.

Alright I'm starting to get what you're saying. Must've been a misunderstanding, I thought that the shown texture was the standard texture. I could imagine that they perhaps used the texture from a different game then (cs:s perhaps?). But alright, good addon then! :)

if you do sub the addons from above, the glass texture will look ass on every map that uses it

even then, mappers arent supposted to put in a new glasswindowbreak070a texture into thier addons

it could perhaps be a stylistic choice, like there used to be a railing along where the stain is. But just because a map is popular on the workshop it does not mean that mistakes like this can't happen. The texture itself is 100% meant to be there. opening it in the vpk will not show it because transparent textures in hl2 dosen't work properly. The shown stains are not something that happens due to an error by the makers of hl2, making the texture look exactly the way it looks here is incredibly hard.

also this screenshot was from a popular map that is on the front page, i doubt that the mapper did a bad job of aligning the texture

when i took the texture from the hl2.vpk it vanished, and running the whereis command multiple times with the addons above subbed tells me a reskin was at play

I think this isn't a fix, just a change. If the stain is in the middle like it's shown in the image it's due to the mapper not adjusting the texture properly. The stains are supposed to appear along the edges of the glass.
