@sq_paradox, Thanks. The problem was I was using XLS Edit so the option to change a cell to text is not there. It works fine on the regular Excel program which I have on my laptop. I ll just transfer the file on flashdrive if I need to edit it. Thanks again for the reply. Regards

Is there a way to stop Excel autocorrecting. When I type True it auto corrects to TRUE and I cannot work out how to prevent this. The only solution I ve found is to copy the word True from another cell and paste it into the cell I want to change. Regards

this right here, this is the mod so many folk need.
Might I suggest a name/tag/description change? or even just a seperate remove compass mod.

Lotta folk like myself are specifically looking to remove/disable the hud compass to enhance more realistic navigation mods and searching for such didn't see this in any of my results

True and False work fine, that's how I tested it. TRUE and FALSE do not work.
Basically the cell needs to be formatted as a string, not a boolean, and most editors try to change it to a boolean.

@Calius Many mods tell you to write "True" or "False" with a capital letter. In this mod however you need to write "true" or "false" in lower case.

Tested and working for me. Are there errors in the output_log?

I have had the config XML set as "True" which then worked, however since patch 17 I launched and compass is showing regardless, not sure if its the patch doing this as the data sheet was written again today after the patch and "True" - but still shows up.

Right yeah I thought it might be that. Gsheets does that. Lame.

@urseus and paradox, the trick to make the disable flag work is that you need to write True in the excel sheet, not TRUE. It wants to auto correct to TRUE but the function that parse the datasheet will not recognise this and yield false. So it needs to be True. You can see this formatting is used in the game's file. Once I switched to True instead of TRUE the compass was correctly disabled.

Updated with fix for compass contacts not scaling, and a fix for the compass edge fades not scaling or moving properly.
There is still an issue with the left compass fade when the compass is shifted on the X axis. Defaults have been changed do to this and other 2022.1 changes.

Did you check the output_log file?
If you check the temp folder is there a CompassQOL.dll file?

I changed the value to TRUE but it still shows up at the top. I also started a new game and cleared out the usual suspects.

Does not require a new game.
Delete the temp folder in AppData\LocalLow\Deep Water Studio\UBOAT then run the game again. If it still not working check the output_log.txt file, near the top should be 2 lines:
[CompassQOL] Loading, version: 1.0.0
[CompassQOL] Patches applied!
If those lines are there the mod is working, if they aren't it's not.

But as I noted below it's only partially working right now. Disable works fine but there are some some scaling issues. At least till I can get them fixed.

Just noticed this isn't quite working right in 2022.1
It mostly works. Disable is fine, but there's an issue with scaling and possibly the X/Y change.
I'll look into fixing that.

Is this affecting the compass from the Compass Navigation mod? Or something else?
