OMG - I'm so happy to at least report that I WAS able to beat it! Had to massively click a button after completing the last puzzle but it got me to the end. (7th's time the charm!)

Shits like hard an broken, i couldn't solve this at all. i found the red keycard but its broken, an i dont know how you grab the none broken one, an just no clear path.

NIiiiice!!! I played it on first try without any problems. It was tricky and even sadistic sometimes, espesially the first puzzle with canister! But I passed it and I enjoyed it.

A+ for the design of the map - however I found the map very frustrating as I soft locked about 3 times - and the portion to jump over the pit is very too small and died way too many times for no real reason there. I got confused with the puzzles and I finished it somehow but not sure exactly what the sparkling key did. Interesting idea and you definitely got excellent skills to design maps and would love to see other maps you create - perhaps just making it a bit clearer of what needs to be done. Anyway well done!

Thanks Chon ! Well this was my first puzzle map, and yeah i rushed the map because of the limited time i could work on my map due to school and private life, but i have learnt many things about puzzle based maps. And yeah my biggest issue was that i made puzzles that were badly implemented and players often didn`t know what to do because of the map didn`t explained it to them.

My suggestion for the future would be - focus more on executing a few ideas well, rather than every idea everywhere. Think about space, navigation, and giving the player some room to breathe, think and learn. In Half-Life style design, you have to safely and easily teach the players simple mechanics, then build on them. Little hint for you - if you have to explain a puzzle in the description for your map, it isn't a good puzzle, or you're not teaching the player how to tackle it properly. Your ideas and thoughts weren't bad, they just haven't been executed well. Keep trying though, I can see you have a lot of potential!

In terms of visuals, some areas were very dense and had pretty design, but it was all hampered by the fact that spaces were so tight, and everything was a jumble of a thousand different textures and models from different places. Why does the first disaster map of the X Labs have massive Stalkyard crates in hallways, next to advanced scientific machinery? Why is there a room with a huge ladder going down to it, that has a shipping container inside it that's half the size of the room? How would they have got that in there, and why? Think more about the purpose in each room and how it would have been built. Stick to a more limited pallet of textures and ideas, and your map will be better off for it!

I'm afraid this one didn't do it for me. Sorry, I can tell you put a ton of effort into it, and I can see you were full of cool ideas for it, but that's unfortunately where it all fell down for me. Everything was a jumbled mishmash of ideas, all crammed together into really tight areas with no sense of cohesion or space. Ichtyosaurs, Beneathticles, Alien Grunts, Zombies, Xen Heal Pools, all within about 20m of each other. It was just too much. Strip it back, keep it simple!

In terms of design, I was immediately frustrated by the very first puzzle revolving around picking up a gas cannister that looked like it had zero importance whatsoever, trying to climb up a ladder while carrying it and being attacked by a Headcrab, to plug into a generator that was also given zero environmental importance whatsoever, to turn on the power and open a door which had no indication that it needed to be opened.

(Hey there - I'm Kralich, the organisation lead for this competition. I'll be leaving a little paragraph on each entry with my notes and opinion in lieu of posting on Discord given the nature of this competition.)

JUDGE'S NOTES: A visually interesting entry (though the abundance of bright white lighting in the initial portion is overdoing it a bit). I liked the HECU grunts hanging around. The whole pre-disaster bit adequately setup things going wrong. Unfortunately, when enemies start cropping up, I found the spacing in the level to be a little tight and obnoxious for navigating around enemies. The visuals were quite striking though and it did feel tense in places - particularly when I realised the broken key wouldn't work and I had to navigate back through the ickysaurs - but there were a few too many unconventional techniques used here and not quite enough telegraphing. Theming and visuals both score fine, but this entry lost marks in gameplay as a result.

i solved the puzzle on accident because i thought i was supposed to bring the sparking key somewhere else and i threw it into the hole in the window to see if i could get softlocked, but that ended up being what i was supposed to do. lol

Well my bad i used a really unusual puzzle in this one and my fear that players wont recognise it become true, and for the enemies you can dodge them or use the environment aginst them like flames coming out of the pipes or barnacles, as dor the main puzzle i can say that sparks ignite fire

Very imaginative and amazing visuals, but I have no idea where to go, or what to do, and the suggested way to deal with enemies seems to be to tank them and use the 100 HP chargers.

Can't give this one a recommendation.
