Challenging but fun map! Returning part was very challenging - I couldn't find the revolver, so I used my pistol at long range + use the covers (doors, cars, ...) as much as possible. I saved my ammo by using only crowbar when dealing with headcrabs and zombies.

Ah x) So obvious, yet still hidden ... thanks.^^

On top of the control room inside the garage, you need a box.

Where can I find the revolver? I found some ammo near the sentry-gun, but after looking for basically an edge to climb or some hidden destroyable wall, I could not find it. I did manage to finish the little map on "Hard" but damn, only having the shotgun, the pistol and a single C4 package made this really rough to get through.

THX for creating ..... I LOVE it :-)
good atmosphere, good background music, good gameplay

this map is too difficult, i literally cannot deal with the 50 grunts, vortigaunts, headcrabs and zombies with only a glock and shotgun and not enough ammo, plus i had to use cheats to even finish the map because it was broken (still a good map though, just needs a lot of polishing and changes)

I think most of your mods only work on the dowgraded versions as I can't get this and 3 others to work with the current ver. That, or crowbar needs to overhaul the very flawed file port that made OG half life so difficult to mod. You literally need 5 years of CC+ AND Python coding just to make the ini.files work!

Perfect, what i can say. But there's a bug with displacement, all landscape are invisible expect skybox

you either typed the wrong map name, or it didn't download
putergurl 17 Nov, 2022 @ 7:23am
I followed the directions to start the map but I get an error in the console stating the file is invalid.

Probably a good map - but too much combat for me. Didn't make it until the end :( I'm more of an "explore and survive" type player. Thanks anyway for your efforts!

maybe the revolver shouldn't be hidden. I imagine the map being quite hard without it. And since you never pick up keycards in the vanilla game, make it more obvious that you have to interact with them like putting an eye-catching light sprite on them.
Besides this it was a neat map. I enjoyed the combat very much.

Good but felt a little underpowered to deal with the final moments.

Made it out of the facility! Some serious combat whisch asks for a tactical approach, Nice!

grab the keycard next to the dead security guard

I got stuck in the part garage - toxic room .. what to do here?

@Starfals My favourite TF2 map was Cactus Canyon lol
Starfals 27 Oct, 2022 @ 1:29pm
I love the cactus work <3 Good thing they are still in

I enjoyed the whole map, despite no clues about security keycards. It's pretty tight, lots of enemy encounters and you're always on the move. Wish it was bigger and more open.

A little backstory on when I was making this map:
I only got the full speed on making it on the last week of the contest, when the deadline was approaching my map was taking 8 minutes to complete, so I decided to slow down the player with enemies, I wish I explored other alternatives to add to play time, but the deadline got in the way.

Also I was going to use houndeye instead of bullsquid, but for whatever reason houndeyes were causing the map to not compile, I looked the error up and it was about an entity name being too long, whoever the houndeye name wasn't big, instead of trying to fix it I just changed to bullsquids lol.

There were too many Bullsquids to fight with just a Pistol. I ended up just skipping most of those fights by running past them. There were then way too many Agrunts to fight on the way back, with not enough ammo at all, and no good guns for it. There also weren't really any puzzles or any other content to the map besides just fighting. A puzzle or two, or a bit of interesting navigation would definitely have helped.

I would try and think a bit more about your gameplay structure and environmental design. A lot of the rooms were just empty blank spaces that served no purpose and didn't connect together very well. This would've worked a lot better if you'd been able to fill the spaces more and make it feel a bit more cohesive and like a real place, because I think the overall idea of the map was good enough.

(I'm Chon, Lead Level Designer at Crowbar Collective and a judge for the competition!)

Had mixed feelings about this one. I liked some of what you did, didn't like some other aspects. I thought the outdoor spaces were nice and it was good to see some variety. I liked picking up keycards from dead guards and backtracking to open doors with them, that also worked alright, though it wasn't signposted as well as I would've liked. In particular with the last one by the warehouse outdoor area, I didn't really know what I had to do with that one, and I only backtracked because it was the only available option to me.

Thanks for the review, I thought that playtester weren't allowed, I asked lambdagen but I may have been misunderstood on what I asked.

(Hey there - I'm Kralich, the organisation lead for this competition. I'll be leaving a little paragraph on each entry with my notes and opinion in lieu of posting on Discord given the nature of this competition.)

JUDGE'S NOTES: This map had ups and downs but didn't bring a lot I felt was particularly unique to the table besides the keycards, which were fine, but difficult to pick up on. In regards to visuals, most interiors were average, though your exterior art design was quite nice and I think gave the map a better overlook that it would've done going by the interiors alone. Combat balancing was pretty whack, though - way too many burrowed headcrabs (just annoying) and far too many bullsquids to fight with just a pistol. The overuse of grunts and vorts on the way back didn't help. A fine entry all in all, but getting someone else in to test and give a bit of feedback on the balancing may've been worthwhile. Not loading via the workshop tab was also a nuisance, but acceptable.
Red  [author] 19 Oct, 2022 @ 8:19am
I have some idea on how to fix the keycard readability on the garage and toxic room. Right now I don't know if I can update the workshop submission, while the judging takes place.
Vassago Rain 19 Oct, 2022 @ 7:14am
Pure combat map with some moody, atmospheric moments. I wish you'd used more of the lesser used weapons, rather than all the safe, boring ones. Bullsquid puke had me confused for minutes, then I figured it out.
Blue Jay 18 Oct, 2022 @ 8:37pm
Good map otherwise, enjoyed the amount of enemies
Blue Jay 18 Oct, 2022 @ 8:37pm
Only issue besides not being loadable from the workshop tab is the fact the bullsquids spewed all over the signs telling the player they needed a keycard, the toxic room keycard needs to be more readable
Red  [author] 18 Oct, 2022 @ 10:42am
I will look into it later, I just wanted to finally upload it, after getting burned by it.
VladmirLR 18 Oct, 2022 @ 8:50am
Hi. Can you add a way to play the map from the Workshop tamb instead open the console?
