I'm going to be honest, this one didn't entirely do it for me. I didn't feel it had much to offer beyond back-to-back vent crawling and somewhat predictable, uninspiring combat and puzzles. By the end of the map I could predict exactly when everything was going to spawn and where. It didn't offer many surprises in that regards. I enjoyed the fight at the end - it was probably a bit too chaotic in such a small space but it was fun nonetheless! The way you connected the different spaces together was nice, though, but it did also feel a little uncohesive.
It also didn't go unnoticed that you used a singificant amount of geo from base BMS. If you were going to do that, I would've liked to have seen you do a bit more with the gameplay overall, as doing this would've given you more time to focus on other areas.
Overall, a decent entry though! Good work.
The cramped, pitch black hallways were great and you have this constant feeling of helpless as you carefully walk the halls and wonder what will happen next. Short, sweet, and very well done!
JUDGE'S NOTES: A solid entry in all regards. Gameplay with the flares and fire at the beginning (and then healthy use of explosives throughout) almost made this feel like a "Black Mesa Ravenholm". The weapon progression - and progressive difficulty, topping off with a high-octane encounter at the end - was classic and well-executed. Visuals throughout were great, and the eerie feel was preserved with dark hallways, tasteful flashing red lights when bullsquids are eating people, and surprise zombies placed just right. Great stuff.
