i hexed the model using this tutorial: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=922631904 . then i opened the texture in paint and started drawing to see what colors go where. it was a lot of trial and error and theres probably a better way to texture but for this simple model it worked well enough.
