The following patch changed ears to hair-colored for me:

<Patch>
<Operation Class="PatchOperationReplace">
<xpath>Defs/GeneDef[defName="Ears_Cat"]/renderNodeProperties/li/useSkinShader</xpath>
<value>
<useSkinShader>false</useSkinShader>
</value>
</Operation>

<Operation Class="PatchOperationReplace">
<xpath>Defs/GeneDef[defName="Ears_Cat"]/renderNodeProperties/li/colorType</xpath>
<value>
<colorType>Hair</colorType>
</value>
</Operation>
</Patch>

yeah, the full release added the pawn rendering changes which fucked up everything. I've attempted to fix it in the other version but it's not showing the changes. I guess I could remove 1.5 from both of them for the time being
twsta 19 Apr, 2024 @ 5:26am
This mod no longer works with the 1.5 update.

It shouldn't do, this mod's About.xml is just looking for the Biotech DLC - feel free to check it yourself. Never heard of or used this other mod you've mentioned. also I'm not having this happen on my Rimpy 🤷🏼‍♀️ Perhaps you need to update your Rimpy client?
fey 7 Nov, 2022 @ 3:35pm
It looks like it's another mod on the workshop, but it's weird that it requires it when it didn't before
Holgast  [author] 7 Nov, 2022 @ 2:09pm
that's rather interesting, I wonder if something changed and you have to refer to the dlc with another name now
fey 7 Nov, 2022 @ 10:38am
This is throwing an error suddenly for me in Rimpy. I have all DLC installed but it says it requires Biotech Expanded - Core. Had no issues previously.

How easy would it be to have tails also inherit hair colour rather than skin colour?
simon 24 Oct, 2022 @ 1:56pm
unrealistic

@Holgast Thanks, this is greatly appreciated

@Chris_ Yes I have, I live with a dozen cats, if you add me on steam I can send you an image of one of mine, who does not have fur on the inside of his ears
Holgast  [author] 23 Oct, 2022 @ 4:27pm
@Daisuke - if you want something more nuanced, check out Anime Cat Ear Retexture linked in the description.
Chris_ 23 Oct, 2022 @ 11:44am
@Daisuke Have you ever seen a cat? here is mine: https://imgur.com/a/9MkqK2r

I am a bit confused as to why there are so many mods that make this one change, it makes the inside of the ear also full of fur, which is not realistic in the slightest, do cat ears also have skin colour from the side and from behind?
Holgast  [author] 22 Oct, 2022 @ 4:05pm
Mammalia musings - they don't use furskin, just regular coloured skin in the screenshots. I think the addition of the snout just makes the brain think 'this is a dog, therefore floppy ears being skin-coloured with separate hair makes sense'. But without the snout, we think 'that's weird for a human'. If you're going full anthro with Mammalia, depending on what genes you are using you may want to disable this mod.
Holgast  [author] 22 Oct, 2022 @ 3:36pm
Although, looking at Mammalia, they have separate hair and skin colours with floppy ears and it looks really good. Maybe they added a different skin gene. In which case hair-coloured floppy ears would look worse. I'll have to look into whether it can be changed based on the existence of other genes (I dunno)
Holgast  [author] 22 Oct, 2022 @ 3:28pm
Updated with floppy ears. I think this may have just been an oversight because the furskin gene makes hair and skin the same colour.
Violet_Jester 22 Oct, 2022 @ 3:10pm
Saw this on Reddit. Thanks for being a hero.
Holgast  [author] 22 Oct, 2022 @ 4:48am
I'll have to have a look. I haven't looked at the animal parts too much.
Dissy 22 Oct, 2022 @ 4:29am
A version that applies to all the animal ears would be good since the floppy dog ears have the same issue
Holgast  [author] 21 Oct, 2022 @ 9:06pm
I just published an anime-style retexture. This mod is included in it, so if you prefer to keep the vanilla ears, feel free to continue using this one.

Mew mew i am furry UwU
Catmancer 21 Oct, 2022 @ 9:01pm
@eighmy_lupin I'm not completely sure, the inner fur of a cats ear protects it(hence its distinctness), furthermore if the ears were to be intentionally genetically engineered on there it'd be crazy to have them put on like that. They didn't evolve "naturally" after all but were instead engineered that way.
すし🍣 21 Oct, 2022 @ 7:04pm
cool
eighmy_lupin 21 Oct, 2022 @ 5:49pm
I mean realistically speaking humans do have skin colored ears, so if humans were to evolve pointy ears they would probably look like they do in game, so I get why they went that way.

But I also get that most people probably want the ears to be fully based on cats, so cool that this mod does that.

Modders work fast
Catmancer 21 Oct, 2022 @ 2:45pm
An odd bug/anomaly in the game fixed with this mod. Thank you.
Holgast  [author] 21 Oct, 2022 @ 2:14pm
I imagine that multiple people immediately tried to make cat girls and then were disgusted
net 21 Oct, 2022 @ 2:13pm
You know the cat ears were a problem when it hasn't even been a day since launch and people are relieved there's finally a mod for it
Replaction 21 Oct, 2022 @ 2:05pm
FINALY!!! THANK YOU!!
