As of 1.5 this will brick your game causing the "no other factions spawning" bug
Rearden 7 May, 2024 @ 12:53pm
time permitting I will update this and post a new mod. when I get around to that I will link to it.
CinderBreeze 21 Apr, 2024 @ 9:47pm
Hey, love this mod, especially for my creepy little all female wraiths! Hope you can update soon, thanks for all the hard work. :)
AlteredBeast 7 Apr, 2024 @ 9:16am
any chance on an update soon ?^^
Greater Good 10 Aug, 2023 @ 9:59am
<Bug Report> HI @Sea There is a crash case by creating characters who were male and by chance someone's mother. So when I press the random button, the create UI could disappear suddenly.
Gorlath 7 Aug, 2023 @ 11:50am
I had issues with this gene mod causing my colonists to spawn without heads. Would spew a red error in the log each time, too. Alpha Genes' female/male genes seem to work ok tho, so would recommend using those instead.
⸸stylox⸸ 2 Aug, 2023 @ 5:29pm
always wanted to choose genders now i can have my harem in my masculinist colony
Xarizon 16 May, 2023 @ 10:36pm
Does not seem to work with bodies added from other mods. Tried making a female only rakkle variant, but it just made rakkles spawn in with the female tag still using male bodies
Zriphelo 1 May, 2023 @ 1:13am
It doesn't completely work, I tried to do an all-male xenotype tribal start and had these issues:
male colonists with female names
non-gay male colonists marrying each other
when randomizing colonists, some are missing the head because of gender-specific head mods
-RedTrainer 20 Jan, 2023 @ 12:17am
finally i can make a Goblin race.
RedMattis 19 Dec, 2022 @ 7:50am
@Grunt67

Go into dev-mode in Rimworld. Select a pawn's xenotype so you see their genes. Hit "apply xenogene". The names in that list are the def-names.

Alternatively just check the defs for this mod in your mod directory (2879538186)
Grunt67 8 Dec, 2022 @ 9:57pm
What is the name of the 2 genes in code so that I can make my own custom xenotype in a custom faction as a mod.
Talonos 9 Nov, 2022 @ 3:25pm
Creating a custom xenotype with this Female Only gene and then rolling random colonists of that xenotype in the game start screen results in female colonists with male names.

I assume that a modded faction that uses a xenotype with the Female Only gene will also have randomly generated pawns with male names.

Is this possible to fix? I've heard pawn generation is a mess, so I understand if it's not...
Luke Vale 4 Nov, 2022 @ 3:50pm
smh, imagine not using this with the femboy gene to make the femboy enclave
whenwrašk 4 Nov, 2022 @ 1:49pm
man, everyone in these comments are going for the amazon colony. very cliche. where's the people using this mod to create Ram Ranch?
RAD EMERALD 2 Nov, 2022 @ 3:40am
look like really "transgender"
Reya 31 Oct, 2022 @ 4:41pm
This is Perfect for Female Primacy Ideologies XD. Request: Dominant Variants that cause the Carrier to only Produce Offspring of that Gender.
Sea  [author] 31 Oct, 2022 @ 3:25am
@shiriukaa Oh that's weird! It SHOULD take the one that isn't greyed out but I must have missed some interaction in the code. For your game, it shouldn't break anything... if you do want it to match up, you can remove then add back the male gene via dev mode, which will swap the baby and make things match.
Yekaterinnani 30 Oct, 2022 @ 10:20am
Sorry again :'), my baby was born and was determined to have a male gene but in the information that RimWorld gives it says that it is "female".
Yekaterinnani 29 Oct, 2022 @ 1:07pm
@Sea ohh thank you so much! Then, yeah, it is lucky, thank you for your great mods too!
Sea  [author] 29 Oct, 2022 @ 7:08am
@shiriukaa Nothing to worry about! This means that your pawn's baby got lucky (or unlucky, depending on your perspective) - it passed the 50% chance test from the father and the mother, so inherited both. Once the baby is born, one of them will be greyed out like this, and the other will determine the babies' gender: https://i.imgur.com/cVzbaWv.png
Yekaterinnani 29 Oct, 2022 @ 6:44am
Sorry for my ignorance or dumb question, but one of my colonist is having a baby and seeing the genes is having on second trimester of pregnancy, it has the male gen and the female gen together, what does it mean? That it could be male or female? Or is a bug?.

The father has the male gen and the mother the female gen and i have Offspring inherit Xenogenes mod too.
Amnaa 29 Oct, 2022 @ 3:14am
Looking for a similar thing as @UnicornMan. A gene condition where only males would be bald.
Sea  [author] 27 Oct, 2022 @ 6:13am
@UnicornMan The genes follow the normal gene inheritance rules - 50% chance per gene per parent. So in this example where one parent has male and antlers, and the other parent only has female, the resulting offspring will have a 50% chance to have antlers, a 50% chance to have the male gene, and a 50% chance to have the female gene. Unfortunately you can't accomplish what you want this way, but "gene groups" where either all of the genes in the group or none are inherited is a pretty good idea for a mod.
UnicornMan 27 Oct, 2022 @ 1:08am
Is it possible to use this to create sexual dimorphism? For example I have the Biotech Expansion Mammalia mod. I can create deer people. I could male-only deers with antler gene and female-only without antlers. Though if they mate, will it produce male-only without antlers or vice-versa?
Luke Vale 26 Oct, 2022 @ 11:05pm
@Sea seems like it still runs into the issue, going to see if unsubbing and resubbing helps.
Athmar 26 Oct, 2022 @ 8:36am
Finally, forced feminization comes to Rimworld. Thank you!
Luke Vale 25 Oct, 2022 @ 5:22pm
@Sea thanks for the fix! I've been using character editor to manually change them if the problem happened.
Patience 25 Oct, 2022 @ 3:49pm
Is it incompatible with existing saves?
Shard 25 Oct, 2022 @ 2:08pm
Since you are doing mods based on reproduction stuff, would it be possible to make 'weak genes' and 'strong genes' where they remove/guarantee the child will have that parent's set of genes unless the other also has the same trait, then it works like normal? Would be nice to have xenotypes that can only produce more of themselves if breeding with the same type, or that always produce more of themselves if bred with a baseline or other xenotype.
Sea  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 1:52pm
@Jarin What's your use case? Technically I think it would be easy to add the corresponding gene during pawn generation, but I'm worried about a couple of things: 1. the sex gene polluting the gene list, 2. the sex gene wasting slots in genepacks for every single pawn, 3. mod conflicts that might be introduced by forcing this on every pawn, 4. what happens if the sex gene isn't transmitted at all during birth? I don't think it's worth it to add to every pawn. The intent of this mod is to allow the creation of single-sex races, which you're probably going to do during embark.
Katieclysm 25 Oct, 2022 @ 12:41pm
I assume it would be terribly complicated to add the gender gene as a default to baseline humans?
Sea  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 12:25pm
@Jarin If they have the gene already, yes (just like any other gene), if they don't, no. I suspect you'll find Male/Female genepacks for sale and in loot (again, like any other gene) - but I don't know for sure, I haven't found any myself yet.
Katieclysm 25 Oct, 2022 @ 11:11am
Can gender genepacks be extracted from baseline humans?
TheZvir 25 Oct, 2022 @ 8:46am
Asari! Yei! \0/ :psi:
Darkborderman 25 Oct, 2022 @ 6:13am
Really great work!
Lucky 25 Oct, 2022 @ 5:56am
Bless u
Sea  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 5:01am
@Lucky I'll do you one better - I actually moved it out of cosmetic - body type and into its own category.
Lucky 25 Oct, 2022 @ 4:27am
Could you possibly push male and female to the far left so the goblin in my brain calms down? Please and thank you.
Final Cipher 25 Oct, 2022 @ 4:07am
I'm surprised this wasn't in Vanilla
Sea  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 2:12am
@Luke Vale I've updated the mod with a fix. If you do have any pawns running around with invisible heads, you can add the gene to swap them to the opposite of their current sex to force a swap, then swap back, and the swap back should restore a valid head to them.
Sea  [author] 25 Oct, 2022 @ 1:59am
@Luke Vale Thanks for the bug report. That sounds likely. I'll make it select a new head if the current one in incompatible when the pawn's sex is changed, which should solve the problem!
Luke Vale 24 Oct, 2022 @ 8:30pm
Has a odd issue, sometimes it'll generate a pawn with the opposite gender's head, which will then be rendered invisible. I assume it's rolling the head under the assumption of being one gender that is changed after the head is chosen.
Complete Casual 24 Oct, 2022 @ 8:01pm
Very very nice :) more and more the mod that is "offsite" becomes vanilla
Runei 24 Oct, 2022 @ 5:42pm
ah yes... one more step towards my amazonian iron womb colony.
Officer Frost, baton enthusiast 24 Oct, 2022 @ 5:11pm
this does work with the implanter gene right?
pointemorte. 24 Oct, 2022 @ 4:22pm
omega based
Shard 24 Oct, 2022 @ 3:14pm
Thank you very much, now I can properly make my foxgirls be foxgirls properly.
Lugaru 24 Oct, 2022 @ 3:14pm
@Omnires there are male and female options in the code for genes so it could be possible... although it might only support paths for cosmetics.
