RIP mod, the configurablity was nice.
Macky 10 May, 2024 @ 3:22pm
You know, at first I was thinking that this mod would be too powerful, but I gave it some thought. If I'm gonna spend 7-13 years raising a child until its useful, I feel like they should be pretty strong considering I can just down and recruit a good enough pawn and train them to be better at something in those years.
Very cool mod!

'Better Gene Inheritance' is a good replacement.
WaKKO151 23 Apr, 2024 @ 1:28pm
Without this mod all my colonies are dying.
Volcano2207 22 Apr, 2024 @ 1:59pm
any similar mods i can use?
Rainoa 15 Apr, 2024 @ 10:17am
question is this mod not needed anymore?
or maybe was it abandoned or plans to update?
Adrian.Lindgren 15 Apr, 2024 @ 9:47am
pls 1.5
AlienIsTired 13 Apr, 2024 @ 11:06am
nvm the last update was in 2022 :skull:
AlienIsTired 13 Apr, 2024 @ 11:05am
is the author still updating this?
๖ۜPetero48 12 Apr, 2024 @ 3:01am
Update for 1.5 please?
vanhien13599 11 Apr, 2024 @ 3:02pm
1,5?
sino301 20 Nov, 2023 @ 11:46am
this would benefit with a patch to VE highmates - there is a gene there that is recessive and should allow entire genome to be inherited, but it conflicts with this mod

Hi, a bit confused about the note on archite gene inheritance. Is the stated formula the one used in vanilla, or the one used in the mod?

And which number does the multiplier in mod options change? I had assumed the "0.5" in the notes, but it's 1.0 in mod options by default.
F1tgal911 5 Oct, 2023 @ 7:18am
@PaprikaRobin
LMAO
BloodMoons 2 Oct, 2023 @ 10:58am
I would like to know if this mod works in multiplayer as well! I love genetics and inheritance, I am positively obsessed with it. TvT
Uiopik 9 Sep, 2023 @ 9:43am
does it work in multiplayer?
Paprikahörnchen 3 Aug, 2023 @ 8:01am
Please change the god awful mod picture

That shit jumpscared me

This is only true for genes of the same type of course, xenogerms always dominate over germline genes.
Person012345 24 Jul, 2023 @ 6:54pm
@ScoSteSal afaik it's entirely possible in vanilla for pawns to have conflicting genes, and many pawns have multiple eg. skin colours. As I understand the priority for which gene is active will be that the negative trait dominates. If the traits are of equal badness (such as cosmetics which are all neutral) it will be random.
Keeweiner 3 Jul, 2023 @ 9:11pm
is there anyway to remove these xenogenes since they get turned into germline genes?
ScoSteSal 12 Jun, 2023 @ 2:48pm
@Jdalt40 both of the genes were endo-genes in the child.
I understand that a xenogene can overwrite a mutually-exclusive endogene in one particular pawn when a xenogerm is implanted in that pawn.
However, I didn't think vanilla would ever produce a child which, say, had both fast wound healing and slow wound healing when you paired a Dirtmole and a Ytakkin.
Jdalt40 12 Jun, 2023 @ 2:32am
ScotSteSal, this is vanilla, genes will be inherited regardless of exclusivity, but only one will be active. Also xenogenes override endogenes so the xenogene will be active
ScoSteSal 11 Jun, 2023 @ 9:31pm
I've noticed some weird behavior, like someone inheriting Super-fast wound healing from one parent (a sanguophage iirc) and slow wound healing from the other parent (iirc ytakkin). Because those are mutually exclusive, it shouldn't be possible for the embryo to have both genes, but it does. I don't think I have any other mods related to gene inheritance (besides your other mod which relaxes metabolism constraints during inheritance).

In particular, I think the scenario was that Super-fast wound healing was a xeno-gene from one parent while slow wound healing was an endogene from the other parent

Could you please check whether your code for xeno-gene inheritance already has logic to prevent that kind of problem, and add it if it isn't yet there?
Venetia 11 May, 2023 @ 11:20pm
I'm having an issue where I have a child with, for example: human jaw (which is bolded, showing it's inherited) and gaunt head. The gaunt head is greyed out, and says it's overridden by human jaw, but the pawn has a gaunt head nonetheless. This is the only mod I have that changes genetic inheritance, so I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem? It's quite possible there's some interplay between mods but figured it was worth asking.

Incompatible with Keeping the Best Jeans In The Family.
nephilimnexus 8 Apr, 2023 @ 8:00pm
Might I suggest adding a function: Injecting a xenogene directly into a fertilized ovum (that was removed for IVF) turns that xenogene into an endogene in the resulting child. My reasoning here is based off Dr.Tyrell's famous scene in Blade Runner about altering DNA in an established lifeform, which implies that doing so in an fresh embryo is the right way to go about genetic modification. Since the DNA of an embryo is still "open to suggestion" as it were, deeper changes become possible.
lilwhitemouse 17 Feb, 2023 @ 2:13pm
A different mod just gave someone deathrest....when they don't have the required "Hemogenic" - so....if you aren't checking requirements for new genes, you might do that
Chaplain Roach 31 Jan, 2023 @ 6:58pm
@BOT Frank I found that another mod called "keeping the jeans in family" stopped this from working right
Cosmic Downpour 25 Jan, 2023 @ 1:46pm
it'd be nice if you could prescribe a load order for those looking to use both of your genome mods (consistent inheritance and offspring)
Actual Final Boss 26 Dec, 2022 @ 10:39am
Can we get an option to adjust the chance to inherit Archite genes? And can inheritance also be broken down by parent? so have a separate slider for the mother and the father?
Toodixinya 21 Dec, 2022 @ 1:28pm
That's how I solved the metabolism issue
Kapok 21 Dec, 2022 @ 4:23am
"Pregnancy failed: combined genes exceeded metabolism limits."
:(
lock in 18 Dec, 2022 @ 7:31pm
Do offsprings inherit archite genes as well?
BOT FRANK 14 Dec, 2022 @ 7:59am
Idk I tried a couple times with changing settings but no luck
MachineMenace 9 Dec, 2022 @ 11:39am
can you make a option so the children only inherit from one parent
Toodixinya 8 Dec, 2022 @ 8:36pm
idk works for me. But that's interesting.I didn't know the vampires could breed.
BOT FRANK 8 Dec, 2022 @ 7:06pm
Yeah my two sangophages aren't making a non base liner child, this mods broken
BOT FRANK 8 Dec, 2022 @ 7:05pm
Is this even working for vampires?
IKM 6 Dec, 2022 @ 10:49pm
Thanks for making this mod, installed mid playthrough and it worked perfectly !
Toodixinya 4 Dec, 2022 @ 11:32am
Probably a mod conflict @Fishbone . My xeno inheritance is set to 100 and all of my babies inherit both parents' xenogenes.
Fishbone 3 Dec, 2022 @ 9:32pm
I've had two children now, the parents being custom xenotypes (Xeno A and B for child 1, and Xeno A and C for child 2.) Neither of the children have any of the xenogerms, even though I've set the genes as inheritable. Have I done something wrong? Is there possibly a mod conflict?
Lady Kiera 1 Dec, 2022 @ 12:00am
THANK YOU. I was malding because I made a custom xenotype, got excited that the baby got the mother's custom xenotype... and then had zero of her special features. Much appreciated!
roejic 26 Nov, 2022 @ 10:36am
I agree with @Hallanvaara. My sanghophage/baseliner hybrid baby is just a regular baseliner
Hallanvaara 23 Nov, 2022 @ 5:05am
I don't think xenogenes are inherited even in latest patch without mod
gnar 22 Nov, 2022 @ 10:59pm
does the base game not have this now?
WittyThoughts 22 Nov, 2022 @ 9:46pm
Thank you for the update <3
