im going to try this one again. see if i can find a way
LPChip  [author] 24 Jul, 2021 @ 5:37am
Not anymore aparently. Have you considered to use momentum as a tool to get the gel even further?
jandlml 22 Jul, 2021 @ 8:01pm
is there a video of this map? the link isnt working. i have tried everything, all the angeled panels, made the gel go fast put the portals all over nothing is working for me to get the gel across. the closest i can get is right at the edge of the glass floor .

I was on a hunt for good white [gel tests]. There was this little [chamber] in the big wild [workshop]. I aimed my [pointer] at its [subscription button] and pulled the [left mouse button]. The [test] didn't give up without a fight. It tried to slow me down by using its [angled portal flings] but it's not about timing - it's all about accuracy. Soon I knew how to [solve] it and as soon as I did, the [chamber] was covered in [white gel]. It was a fair oponent.

This one goes on my wall of [favorites].

@Piotr_mil: Hey, yeah I have to confess that when I played it, it was indeed a bit more tedious then my memory told me. Still the techniques worked, but the 5 minutes that I thought I could do it in were 15... :P
piotr_mil 2 Sep, 2014 @ 2:30pm
Wellll.... you said five minutes, it took you fifteen, if I were to be nitpicking. And, my point still stands, it is nothing but gel flinging. I actually didn't notice those angled panels above, and still managed to correctly cover the panels for laser. One thing I *did* learn though, is that gel can be thrown at really ridiculous speeds when placed in the infinite loop.

Sorry you felt like this. I'll record a video for you with my solution.
piotr_mil 31 Aug, 2014 @ 4:40pm
Very, very tedious. Again, probably needs some very tricky technique that only few people know to do it effectively, but that just takes the fun out of the game. I've wasted 15 minutes trying to bring the gel to another side by every possible angle and portal flinging combo I could think about, and I came to the conclusion that since the chamber doesn't care, then why should I.

You say that you can play it under 5 minutes, I'd gladly see a video solution, since no one has uploaded them to youtube yet.

Wow !!! This competion made a really good tests ! This one was Great and challenging, only good ideas into this chamber . Hard to choose a favorite betwen you and the other competitors.

You need BEE2 with additional TeamSpen (or TSpen) additions.

You can find them here [forums.thinkingwithportals.com].

Seems... edgy , to say the least :P

Next question (I've been seeking an answer to this): which mod can create the wedges, and is it the same one that has the recessed pedestal buttons? I can't seem to find them in BEE2....

If it seems tedious, you are problably not using the right techniques to paint.
If you place your portal below the gel but position it so that the gel goes in on the sides, the paint will cover a big area when it hits the surface again.
I can solve this entire map in under 5 minutes.

Initial impression: seems tedious.

That was a lot of paint :) Thumbs up!
LPChip  [author] 20 Jul, 2014 @ 11:35am
I tried keeping the available tools to a minimum so the conclusion becomes apparent rather quickly. :)
cyhborg 20 Jul, 2014 @ 9:56am
That was a first for me. I didn't know paint behaved that way.
LPChip  [author] 20 Jul, 2014 @ 9:54am
@cyhborg, yes that is what you need to do.
cyhborg 20 Jul, 2014 @ 9:34am
I made the paint fall in a loop (ceiling + floor portals) so that it can fly out of the floor portal really fast . Is that correct?
