Cornish people are it's own culture, but english people were migrating into cornwall in the 19th century, i used Wikipedia statistics to come to that conclusion.

There were not many primary language speakers of the cornish language at the time, but still very much an "us and them" mentality. Much like the north/south divide in the UK to this day.

What was the reasoning behind the population being 49% Cornish? Simply wanting both a strong Cornish and English presence, or was there a specific thinking behind that number?

I intend on representing Cornwall in my own mod, but I'm stumped on what to do with the demographics. By all accounts, the Cornish had been fully assimilated by this point - and as far as I can tell in my own research, it wasn't until much more recently (this century) that Cornish national revivalism has taken hold.

So, with that in mind, I'm at a loss for if I should just make the whole county Cornish, make the whole county English but add it as a Cornish homeland, or just make the Cornish a minority of some arbitrary number

TBF though, the main thing for me is an alt-hist game. :winter2019joyfultearsyul:

@Snotlingking I'm being pedantic here but "Kernowen" is not the correct term. If you want to use the endonym for the Cornish as a whole you would say the "Kernow" or "Kernowyon". If you want to use the English word, use Cornish or Cornishmen.

The language was still in use in very small numbers well into the 19th century and beyond, though not particularly publicly, and almost certainly not monolingual Cornish speakers.

It is in fact disputed whether the language ever truly died at all, despite being declared dead. [en.wikipedia.org]

You're also discounting the fact that a very large number of Cornish speakers emigrated elsewhere. Especially places such as the US rust belt, South Australia, and Brazil.

Sadly, the Kernowen were nearly wiped culturally from the face of the earth, and in no way could be described as strong to this day. They just have local traditions which could be compared to any other minor culture in the UK, hence why paradox doesn't have a different releasable tag for every local region, i.e. East Anglia, which has traditions of their own just as strong as any other local culture. Cornish had been a dead language since the beginning of the 1800s, only being artificially revived in the last century, but this is a nice alt-hist mod.

CELTICS ARIIIIIISE

3. Cornwall as a releasable polity like the other Celtic nations in Britain.

4. Formable Brythonic (Welsh, Breton & Cornish) & Celtic [i.pinimg.com] unions [i.redd.it]. Would be cool and would make for an extremely challenging game. :winter2019happyyul:

Thanks for making this mod! It is something I immediately noticed missing from the base game. Would you consider adding a few features?

1. Cornish (or Kernowek) is a Celtic culture so should have the Celtic cultural group. There were Cornish language (Kernowek) speakers in Cornwall at this time, though not many.

2. The Cornish Diaspora [en.wikipedia.org] would be in full swing by this point. There's currently millions of people with Cornish ancestry all around the globe. Perhaps consider adding immigrant populations to places such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, America, etc.
