1.5?
adosOS 27 Aug, 2024 @ 4:45pm
Tilling as plant work would make a lot of sense, since farmers aren't also always really good at constructing it makes tilling fields a waste of time for faster growing crops, and/or forces you to drag your builders in for the tilling work.
Idk if you're still doing Rimworld modding but I look forward to seeing the rework regardless.

Personally I think it's the tilling itself (on VPE) that needs some adjusting too... It takes so looooooong to till the terrain that I decided to just not till it and actually got more harvests during the growth period regardless of the reduced fertility lol

So one suggestion I have for a possible update is to reduce the work needed for tilling as well :)

Will you update it to 1.5? :)

Your rework idea is exactly what I need. If you still want to save some options of fertility, you can make them configurable by people
Afropenguinn  [author] 4 Dec, 2023 @ 8:24pm
Been thinking about that lately. I think I might just rework this mod into something like this:
- Adds an auto plow option
- Tilling work is now a growing job instead of construction
- Tilling a tile where a plant exists no longer destroys the plant

There are already mods that just add the auto plow option out there, like this: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2497914485&searchtext=vanilla+plants+expanded

At the end of the day I made this mod for myself, but I'm glad some other people find it useful.

Hey, I know how annoying this request is but - would it be possible to add planting xp to tilling? It'd be nice to have more methods of training up planters and having some be full time.

Well the idea was that rich soil is still better if you don't plan on tilling, but I think I'll look into making it an option.
ComradeCorvus 11 Nov, 2023 @ 2:40pm
@Ki Shuya I agree with this idea.
Ki Shuya 22 Oct, 2023 @ 4:37pm
Since this reduces the Rich Soil to basically being obsolete, I think I'll be removing this. Maybe Author would consider releasing Auto Tiling Only as it's own mod, that would be pretty awesome.
CoboCabana 9 Jul, 2023 @ 3:09pm
Still going to use it because I just want the auto till feature. But it is silly to lower rich soil fertility so its worse than tilled.
TheEventHorizon 18 May, 2023 @ 9:56am
Yeah doesnt this make rich soil completely obsolete compared to normal soil?
Bartholomew Marmalade 15 Mar, 2023 @ 3:35pm
Then doesn't this make rich soil obsolete? Since you have to till it anyway?
Afropenguinn  [author] 14 Mar, 2023 @ 1:40am
Yes.
Bartholomew Marmalade 9 Mar, 2023 @ 11:50am
Wait, so does this mean that rich soil tilled and regular soil tilled are both at 140% fertility?

tilling really should be plant work, and give no XP. In my current game my building team are insanely high 20 and 18's and my growers are off cleaning or hauling because they can't plant yet or off building a random pool table because i told to to also build and a pool table is apparently more fun than doing your job lol.
Defyant 4 Nov, 2022 @ 3:48pm
+1 for tilling to be completed by people with the planting job instead of construction.
Afropenguinn  [author] 3 Nov, 2022 @ 11:04pm
I have considered that, may add it at some point. I'm not a very experienced modder, this was my first attempt. Looking to grow though! It's a great community :)
RedBaronFlyer 2 Nov, 2022 @ 2:02pm
Absolutely loving this mod! The only thing I am really missing is having the tilling job be done with people assigned to planting and not construction. I think Re-Till had that feature as a patchoperation.
Thor 29 Oct, 2022 @ 2:48pm
I would love to see an options menu with sliders, allowing us to change the fertility bonus for each type of soil.
//SlipperyPete:. 28 Oct, 2022 @ 6:13pm
Any chance this could allow fungal gravel to be tilled, possibly raising it to 100% fertility so that it could grow plants that have 100% as min requirement.
Afropenguinn  [author] 27 Oct, 2022 @ 3:52pm
@Teridax Yeah, that chaotic look is what inspired me to make this lol plus I really wanted auto tilling
Teridax 27 Oct, 2022 @ 6:32am
I was already using an auto tilling mod, but i kind of disliked the chaotic look when i placed my farms over rich soil and half was tilted and the other not

Also this nerf seems fair anyway since VE mod do make the game mostly easier except the faction mods

Thank you very much!

Adding auto-tilling to growing zones is such a good idea, I'm shocked that it wasn't there to begin with. Fertility tweaks are also cool, but that first change especially seems essential to avoid tedium in hindsight.
