not sure if this is an issue with this mod or the re texture I'm using but when i fire the beams it destroys any and all substructure of the ship firing the beams that is in the path of the beams

can anyone tell me which values to change to turn down the combined beam effect. It's super bright and causing lag on the video card. Thank you.

I wasn't complaining, after explaining how the math can be a bit broken I said it looks like a fun mod for beam power enjoyers.

Though my point was about a 3rd+ beam to remain true to binary combination.

Still looking fun, might break the game later

I would say that those scalings are sort of broken
DMG(LV1)=1 + 1.25 + 1.25^2 + ... + 1.25^n-1
meaning merging 8 beams gets you:
sum x->[1:n](1.25^(x-1)) which is
1 + 1.25 + 1.953125 + 2.44140625 + 3.0517578125 + 3.814697265625 + 4.76837158203125 + 5.9604644775390625
resulting in a force multiplier of 24.2398..
and it gets worse the more beams you add.
a single merge with diminishing returns for multi merge to encorage the same binary merging system of the game would be more sensible.

but it's not my mod so who cares what I say, this looks like a fun mod for enjoying the power of beams.

Will this mod be updated to accommodate the late June update that added crew construction? As it stands, like many mods, it just crashes the game when trying to use it now. One of the issues seems to be that several base-game assets were renamed, resulting in failed calls from mods.

Why doesn't a wider beam have a wider attack aoe?

I'm sitting over here with a beam larger than my ship, and it's still hitting only one block at a time

it appears to me that it migth was a little too much to aim 64 lazer beams into the blue one

(it kinda caused a bluescreen) the last image i saw was the whole screen being a lazer beam, it was glorious

Maybe it's because you're using too many prisms and putting them together. You might want to look at what I said in the mod description "It is not recommended to shoot too many beams into the same prism, this can cause the prism to become unusable". This problem is likely from the game's security mechanics, which are not allowed to be changed by the mod author.You can try to reduce the number of prisms to solve this problem, or use some low-level prisms

there need an other version(more balanced) of this mod where the
lvl 0 (red) is still -25% 300 range
lvl 1 (purple) is -12.5% 450
lvl 2 (orange) is -6.25% 600
lvl 3 (yellow) is -3.125% 750
lvl 4 (blue) is -1.562% 900

that way its still a great upgrade but not absurd

All prisms in this mod do not have ion beam damage reduction. Inside the prism's rules file, there is a variable "ReductionFactorPerBeam". Its original value is 0.75, which also means a 25% damage reduction. By changing it to a number greater than 1, a damage increase can be achieved

wondering how you went about the numbers for the mod, do any of these super prisms carry over the original trait for the ion prism where they lose 25% for each beam added? or do they have no negative initially and instead have the new +25,50,75,100% for their multiplier?

It is dangerous behavior for programs not to limit the size of values, which can lead to overflowing values and possibly incorrect values or crashing the program. I tried to find the maximum value cap, but still failed. So I don't think it is possible to modify the upper limit with mods. The actual numerical cap I tested before with SuperPrismLV4. A level 4 prism can accept up to 20 ion beams, which means that a beam from this prism does 250*(2^20-1)=262,143,750 damage (base damage is 250) You can adjust the number of prisms so that the final damage does not exceed this value

does that mean that there is a maximum amount of beam that can be combined before it just stops working ? (whish seems to be the case, since my attempt at combining 518 ion beams did not work, tho it was beautiful.)

if so, how many, and could you remove this limit, or is it due to the game engine ?

I have decided that I will not be adding any items to this mod.
If you need a gentler version, I suggest you open this folder
... \steamapps\workshop\content\799600\2881872234
Here you can see the four Super Prism folders where you can find the RULES files. Open these files with Notepad, find the variable ReductionFactorPerBeam and change it to the number you want so that it meets your needs.
You can just make this mod a local mod.This way, when I release some minor updates, you don't need to modify your files again

I think you should release a more toned down version of this. Vanilla prism reduce beam damage by 25% for each added beam. I think you should consider a version where the prism's damage loss is reduced with each tier until the reduction is 0% (for example tier 1 -20%, tier 2 -15%,...), instead of looking to increase it, and make a modded beam emitters with increased damage based on tiers instead. It would also eliminate the error with the loops.

我会尝试提高一下上限,但是我要指出的是,计算机内没有真正的无限,所有变量都有其范围。常见的int型或者说int32,上限也不过21亿,所以无限制地堆棱镜数量是有极大风险的,可能因为数值溢出导致游戏崩溃。在我不清楚游戏用了哪种类型的变量储存伤害数值前,我会稍微保守一点。还有,给你个建议,把这么多光束汇集起来确实视觉效果爆炸,但是破甲效率却没有你想象的高。建议是多搞几束激光,因为伤害过高的情况下,打什么都是一碰即碎,但是速度不会变快,不如多几束伤害低一点,但依旧能秒破装甲的光束
