The religion map isn't incorporated
Draconin  [author] 7 Aug, 2023 @ 2:17pm
@晓jian: It is no longer needed, the Devs incorporated it into the game!
晓jian 7 Aug, 2023 @ 12:04pm
still need this mod now?or has it been integrated into the game itself?
macluk 5 Mar, 2023 @ 7:37am
Not a problem. Let's bother Paradox then :D:D
Draconin  [author] 5 Mar, 2023 @ 7:28am
@macluk, Lot of the things related to map modes are hardcoded. I have not checked religion specifically but I imagine you would run in to the same issues.
macluk 5 Mar, 2023 @ 5:01am
Is it possible to add some more map modes... or even create a separate mod - Religion would be useful in it, Culture too although one can click elsewhere to get a whole world picture (that's missing for religions)

@LonelyCookie, Enjoy! <3

Thank you for being the heatmap saviour in the early days of Vic3. Now, its time for me to unsub and enjoy the changes from your big modding brain in base game now :D

@Alexandru72733, Sure thing and good luck with your mod!

Hello! This mod does an amazing job at improving victoria 3 gameplay experience, could I integrate it into Age of Discovery 1444? Great job!
Undeadbanana 15 Jan, 2023 @ 10:16am
There's a compatibility issue but I'm unsure which mod is 'causing the issue. In good's map mod, you only see the production/consumption within your own territory.

Placing this mod closer to the end fixes that.

Practical Heatmaps is included in Victoria III Improvement Collection 維多利亞三世改進系列 (V1.1.0 12/26/22). With 88 working mods. I provide you with the order list you just copy and paste, No sorting manual work needed, enjoy!

@Caesar, Yes it should work just like other trade goods.

The game is definitely half baked, but it is a great base and I am hopeful that it will be fantastic after a few DLCs!
Caesar 20 Dec, 2022 @ 9:30am
@Ronin Szaky holy shit thanks for the info. So am I understanding correctly that you can literally have 100 levels of Electricity industry in New York and have it be used all over your African states/colonies? If so, massive facepalm on my part but also what were the devs doing all this time? Feels like the game is half baked. Anyway thanks for the answer overall, this is all good to know
Draconin  [author] 18 Dec, 2022 @ 8:00am
@Hammurabae, Sure go for it.

@Caesar, Thing is, even if you lock a map mode like Standard of Living, it will "go away" during the construction. "Show Consumption on map" works a similar way as long as you have the market tab on the left open with the good selected.

Different colors are possible (maybe even for each map mode) but I decided to stick with vanilla since this preference is very subjective.

Also, you can build electricity plants anywhere in your country, electricity works as any other good and not limited to provinces strangely enough.
Caesar 16 Dec, 2022 @ 11:38am
Hey mister mod man, do you know if it would be possible to add a way to lock a map mode currently selected? For example, I have to go to the market tab and select "Electricity" from the list, then "Show Consumption on map". My goal here is to find the states where there is a higher demand of electricity than output, and build more plants in those states. But every time I click on a state to build more, I have to redo the first process to get the map again.
Also, if that map/that kind of map could have more color contrast between the states where production is under consumption demand VS above consumption demand, that would be amazing. Maybe using different colors too?
Anyways, thanks for the great work so far :)
Mēkaru 15 Dec, 2022 @ 1:06pm
Would it be ok to use this for a roleplay mod pack mod with accreditation?
Draconin  [author] 9 Dec, 2022 @ 9:50am
@jonpatt92, I agree that it is weird since a global view exists for other map modes. Obviously Paradox has a lot of work to do still!
jonpatt92 7 Dec, 2022 @ 10:18am
Thanks again! Bummer about them hardcoding something that should be extensible. Plus them leaving out global maps is basically them dropping a core feature for every game except an isolationist one.
micro1401 6 Dec, 2022 @ 1:21pm
This is really useful for Russia player.
micro1401 6 Dec, 2022 @ 1:20pm
👍
Draconin  [author] 6 Dec, 2022 @ 11:30am
@Thadom69, Unfortunately most things related to map modes are hard coded and population map mode is one of those things.

I tried tweaking the "map_modes.txt" to make the population map mode global (similarly how it is done for culture for example) but it seems that the required "map_painting_mode" does not exist. Since these modes cannot be edited, there is not much I can do until Paradox decides to create a global view that can be reused (but at that point they will probably just add the button as well).
Thadom570 5 Dec, 2022 @ 8:42am
Could you add population, obviously that "population button on the left is just our nation, we want the world's.
Draconin  [author] 4 Dec, 2022 @ 10:43am
@jonpatt92, It already exists in-game and the mod works with that too. Just press F9 or click on the Population button on the left.
jonpatt92 3 Dec, 2022 @ 11:46am
Can we do population heatmaps? It's tiresome to click on states one by one to find the most populous.
Great work, thanks!
Draconin  [author] 27 Nov, 2022 @ 5:40am
@124_alx, The mod also affects the IG (interest group) map mode and while IGs do have a special map setting, tweaking it does not improve the visuals much (see: https://imgur.com/a/zOEM7FN ) .

The reason why you usually see IGs conglomerate in the largest states is simply because they live there.

Having said that, I might increase the minimum alpha so smaller states are not completely white.

@Thadom69, It already works with the population tab, but if you mean adding a population map mode with a button and everything then unfortunately that is beyond my current capabilities.
Thadom570 26 Nov, 2022 @ 11:10am
could you add population?
124_alx 26 Nov, 2022 @ 9:36am
Would you be able to change the heatmap for party membership (or party power idk what its called). Im pretty sure its accessed when hovering over a parties clout but its always just a big blob in the largest state.
Draconin  [author] 22 Nov, 2022 @ 1:05pm
@BlackLight, Sure, go ahead! It is only two lines of code after all. :winter2019joyfultearsdog:
BlackLight 22 Nov, 2022 @ 1:00pm
Hello, I was wondering if I could use this mod in a mod I am making. You would be credited for this in my mod.
Draconin  [author] 19 Nov, 2022 @ 12:16pm
I think any change to the game files changes the checksum.
GhostMedic 19 Nov, 2022 @ 7:34am
Really like the mod. How come it changes the multiplayer checksum though?
ephemer1s 18 Nov, 2022 @ 11:51am
Best mod playing the rest of the world. Not good playing Qing and EIC lol
Thadom570 16 Nov, 2022 @ 11:08am
Are you going to be adding new ones like population for example? I created a list of the 75+ best mods in the game right now which shouldn't be needed. With no cheaty mods, Practical Heatmaps is included thanks! subscribed!

@ඞSzarikඞ, As others have noted, almost all mods are Ironman compatible, including this one!
[JOMS] Kearse 5 Nov, 2022 @ 3:48am
For religions, click on the religion in your population tab that you wanna see displayed.
Szarik 5 Nov, 2022 @ 2:02am
is it Iron Man compatible?
chenassert~~ 4 Nov, 2022 @ 7:53pm
Could you tell me where I can find religious map?:DrakElf_expression1:
JUSTICE!!! 4 Nov, 2022 @ 12:20pm
you mentioned a 'Religions' map but i cant seem to find how to activate that. where is that control?
Draconin  [author] 3 Nov, 2022 @ 4:32pm
Yes, it is only a two color palette (although there might be a work around).
vege92 3 Nov, 2022 @ 3:09pm
If you can use a three-color palette, I would recommend these three: #440154FF, #29AF7FFF, #FDE725FF. I don't know if this is possible. I went through the mod file and there seems to be just two available values HEAT_MAP_COLOR_FROM and HEAT_MAP_COLOR_TO.
Draconin  [author] 3 Nov, 2022 @ 3:09pm
Thank you for the website @vege92, now I understand why Paradox opted for the green palette!

Basically what we have in-game is a sequential color scheme that goes from one color to another other. You can plug in any RGB code combination but how it will actually turn out is another matter. (I even had black when I was experimenting at the start and it looked pretty wild).

@Wallenkirsch, I suppose I could make sub-mods but as changing the colors is trivial (once you know where to look) it would probably be the best if I just added a tutorial part in the description.
vege92 3 Nov, 2022 @ 7:54am
If you want to make the colors more distinct (not just shades of green) you could check out "viridis color palette" (from yellow to dark purple). Also, https://colorbrewer2.org/ has really nice sequential and diverging palettes. All of these are in heavy use in data science.
Wallenkirsch 2 Nov, 2022 @ 10:10pm
I'll be honest, i haven't the slightest idea of how to mod, but at least for me, on the prouction map mode the green is often hard to tell just how much is being produced, could you possibly include a mod that makes the colors fade from say, Green=plentiful --->Red=insignificant --->White= non-existent? or something there abouts?
Draconin  [author] 2 Nov, 2022 @ 9:42am
@NGASAK, Yes you can do any color combination. I experimented with other shades of green/blue but I found the vanilla colors to be good enough to work with!
