Anyone actually had issues with this? I'm tempted to just throw it back into my mod list because I really miss my birdies :( I'm not super knowledgeable on mods but I can't imagine it causes any issues?

Awwwww man. I came back to Rimworld and this mod is dead?

Thanks for your work on it. I had a great time.

My last colony about 2(?) years ago was HUGE. I had a few of these bird people in there who were top tier colonists. Huge contributors to my colony. They had many children, and those children also had children.

Thanks again for the work on this race, it was a really great time!

It would be nice if it didnt add its own faction considering if you have to many faction the world map bugs out when generating. Right now almost all gene mods have a faction with them. So instead of being able to have everything from birds to bugs to lizards, we are forced to pick between them because the game cant handle 12 new faction just from gene mod species.

I wonder if it would be sensible to somehow integrate this with the Vanilla Races Extended group - specifically the Saurid mod comes to mind.
Since the egg-laying gene would fit nicely with the Papou.

A side Q - does this have a Github repo where one could help out with the development?

@YAYO When you do test try and make it so the wings default to the pawns hair color gene if the pawn doesn't have the wing color gene. The way gene inheritance works in rimworld by default for children players will possibly get one without the other occasionally so would be weird for the wings to turn white or a random color without the wing color gene inherited. Defaulting to hair color gives it a fallback that makes sense for when that happens

Then, I don't know if that is possible, but just as idea: wings as one gene and their color as another gene? So you can make wing color genes "free" - as usual hair color genes.

Yes, that's the best way.
But that is not possible with xml mod alone.
Genes such as hair color are possible, but
Genes with random colors are not possible.
This requires c# modding and that's pretty hard work.

I would suggest to make 2 color genes: one with random colored wings and feathers, and other with hair-colored. Because having all wing colors in one genome make it too heavy for nothing.

Anyway to stop the genes from showing up on other pawns? Encountered a raider with papou yellow hair gene. On another note there any way to make the feathers and color gene's seperate? For example: You have the feather gene but another gene that recolors it otherwise it matches the pawns hair color. This way you can control what color the feathers are without needing a specific feather gene for that color as well as give some more options for players that add the feather genes to pawns with genetic engineering or have cross-xenotype papou families. Other pawns with the genes look weird when they have them due to color and feather's being the same gene and thus clashing no matter what is added.

Having color genes for the wings/feathers as well as the hair colored default one would allow better usage in making custom avian xenotypes without too much color clashing if players want too. Would give a lot of freedom to be creative

Fly skill doubles the cooldown and has been modified to stack up to 3 times.

Also maybe increase charge time for the jump because right now they charge so fast that it may be a good idea to micro manage flying for regular work use and hauling etc. I dont think doing that would be a lot of fun but if its possible then I feel a need to do it

Maybe change the faction description and change the faction color to pink since right now theyre the same color as the pig faction. I think pink would fit them quite well. Also maybe add some ideology faction requirements because right now theyre always supremacist and I got them as supremacist cannibals. Didnt seem very fitting. The art is beautiful tho and theyre quite balanced so good job on that
