War Paint: Crash Tested

I'm baffled that people call this yellow "neon-yellow" when it's actually a shade of yellow-orange, a warm honey colour, like the Engineer's knee protectors...
Whereas actual neon-yellow is a pale lemony yellow with a greenish tint, a cold colour tone which (like every "neon" version of a colour) has a lot more white in it.

Sadly, true, and I blame this on Valve, because when you compare the five wear grades of Warpaints in TF2 with identically-named wear grades of weapon skins in Counter-Strike, the equivalent wear grades in Counter-Strike are way less scratched. Field-Tested (3) in TF2 looks like Battle-Scarred (5) in Counter-Strike, while Battle-Scarred in TF2 uusually looks totally trashed and hardly leaves any of the colours of the texture on the weapon. And the increasing "blood spatter" effect is rarelya satisfying replacement.

And sadly, Valve seems to be allergic to adding community-created Warpaints that have cool special effec gimmicks built into the scratch pattern of higher wear grades/float.

Lumber From Down Under has over half of the primary texture taken up by the neon yellow i am referring to
The Adam Friedland Curse 4 Nov, 2022 @ 4:33pm
lumber down under uses neon yellow as a contrast, this uses it as the main color which makes it look bad

I honestly think it looks good in lower wears (though maybe that's because I tend to like them more than other people anyway) and for crying out loud it's based on a crash test dummy which is supposed to get beaten up lol

99.9% of war paints look awful in anything except Factory New, and this war paint uses a yellow with less saturation than Valve's own Lumber Down Under sniper rifle skin. Hope this helps!

this will be horrible in anything except Fac New and even then its neon yellow

I get where people is coming from with the criticism, but tbh.... aren't aussies kinda the same way with the bright saturated yellow? I don't know, and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a more toned down orange, but to me the skin looks fine.
Snackerman™ 3 Nov, 2022 @ 2:12pm
but the rest of the textures as they are applied, I like them 50/50.

the yellow is flat, maybe less of that texture and it would work fine.

Maybe tone down the yellow just a tad, and add an orange variant for proper team coloration :) other than that it’s solid

I personally think it’s great. No-nonsense skinset that I can see being a thing in the universe. Keep such content flowing

yellow is way too bright and saturated. I like the idea of it but maybe try to tone it down a bit. and on some weapons (like the wrench or the minigun the ratio of black and yellow is wayyy off. Maybe try incorporating more black in it. but otherwise not too bad
