BUT .. you cannot control which great work gets assigned to a unit from lua or any other means
If you are playing as a modded version of Japan that is not actually defined as the Firaxis-suppled Japanese civilization, then so far as this mod is concerned, Japan is not in the game, so the generals and admirals assigned for Japan can be used by any civ that needs to draw from the generic lists.
I am using Machaivelli's UnitCreatedGood system, which is where the promotion comes from. The promotion acts as a marker (and has no other function) that a unit has been previously processed by the UnitCreatedGood system and stops the game's core lua system from trying to re-fire and re-execute when units are added back onto the map while a saved game is being reloaded by the player. Without this system and this marker promotion, relaod of a saved game would not be possible and/or would cause any number of bizarre and undesirable results.
I can see in the screenshots above the promotion I'm talking about, it is the one with the cross and the lightning icon. So this is indeed a bug. Hope you fix it soon!
Hello,
Your mod appears to give all units a promotion called "Created" which serves no purpose. Can you confirm that it does indeed happen to you too and attempt to fix it?
Just to clarify, when you said it "should fix your issues" Are you referring to both Great Heroes and Really Advanced Set up? Just want to clarify that before I try anything.
Thank you so much again!
Sorry it took so long for me to even see your comments but the V8 posted today should fix your issues.
@deathdroid29
I'll think about an 'add-on' mod for some of the more-popular custom civs, but that so easy gets into an endless process of updating such an add-on every five minutes when JFD issues a new civ :)
Really Advanced Set-up = no idea as yet
I'll look into the hereos mod and really advanced setup but I am pretty sure I have a fair idea of the root cause.
The issue with JFD's Lincoln is because the civ is not actually CIVILIZATION_AMERICA but rather CIVILIZATION_JFD_AMERICA_LINCOLN. So please refer to the notes about custom civs and what the authors of those mode would need to do.
Sorry about not getting to you earlier. I don't always seem to get notifications of new comments. This has been going on for some couple of months now.
Follow the link to the CivFanatics Discussion thread of this mod. I have a complete listing of all names currently being used at Post #8 [forums.civfanatics.com] of that thread. Heinz Guderian and Erwin Rommel are in the list for Germany. But I did not use any more of the WWII-era German Generals because, well, I'd think it would be obvious why doing so would be uncomfortable.
I would assume so.
You are getting that and not John Buford in-game ? What you are seeing is an indication that the whole file for the In-Game names is getting dumped by the game. But I have not encountered this.
Strange but I don't remember seeing your comment before. Otherwise I would have responded earlier.
Yes, Rommel was perhaps the Nazi's greatest generals. He also tried to assassinate hitler. On his funeral soldiers form both sides attended.
It's not about the steam workshop one way or the other, it's about the core game files and what they allow mod-authors to get at. Trust me, I really wanted to be able to do it for great works and great works people, but it's a no go at the current time.
