DaVinchi 23 Jan, 2023 @ 3:18pm
such a shame this map will never be added because we got the worse looking frostpit
Yapyrus 11 Nov, 2022 @ 4:31pm
Yeah it's a small detail. The map is still well done.
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 4:27pm
@Yapyrus Fair enough i get your point; it is a very small detail indeed but it's still important!
Yapyrus 11 Nov, 2022 @ 4:17pm
I think what Poc means is that RED team should own the crystals, and BLU the facility so it makes more sense for RED to be defending their crystals. Personally I think it would be more logic to have BLU team taking control of the faciltiy, not destroy it, to mine the crystals themselves.
I think it's weird BLU team is mining for RED, they're rival, a team shouldn't have such an upper hand on another. They shouldn't be working for them or cooperating if they don't have a common enemy. Maybe I'm too harsh though I don't know.
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 4:12pm
@PocPoc Yes i see, well both ideas are valid; we went with the "Blu have a revolution against red's exploitation" but your idea is also solid, cheers! Your idea would make a cool Player Destruction map for sure!
POCPOC 11 Nov, 2022 @ 4:01pm
i just don't get it why the reds should have the refinery and not the blue it makes more sense that the red defends their crystals and the blu wants them to refined them it's just my opinion
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 4:00pm
I think you got a little mixed up PocPoc yeah; would be weird to have a team attack their own mines since, y'know, they own them :winter2019joyfultearsyul:
Alox  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:58pm
Well read again then
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:58pm
@Yapyrus Or the other way around where blu pushes a bomb payload to blow red's refinery; good idea i like it! But yeah this is more of a "we're sick of mining frozium for red we're having a revolution" type of thing haha
POCPOC 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:57pm
it's not what ryan said but mkay...
Alox  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:55pm
Blu want to cap and destroy the Frozium Tower just to stop the Red facility, while Red want Blu to get out from the frozium caves, in order to exploit all the ressource of those caves
POCPOC 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:54pm
how it is not logical explain me
Yapyrus 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:53pm
Oh it's a cool idea. But I think Gravel Pit wasn't quite the best map for the concept. It would've been better in my eyes to make payload map with the BLU team pushing a cart which is a refinement machine. They push it point through point which goes from BLU refinery plant, through mines and snowy forests, then into an giant crystal cave which is also RED base. Then when they cap last they can install the machine at the center of the cave to refine the crytals.
Alox  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:53pm
Its like not logical at all but mkay...
POCPOC 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:50pm
if the blue attacks the red so it would be more logical for the blue to have the industry to refined the crystals from the red it's just my opinion it would have been better
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:48pm
@PocPoc What do you mean "it should have been the oposite"? We never had plans to switch the refinery to BLU side and the mines to RED, not sure where you got the info that it should've been the other way around; moreover it would be strange for the industry to attack their own mines; the miners attacking the refinery makes alot more sense don't you think :winter2019happyyul:
POCPOC 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:45pm
It should have been the oposite then why the blu doesn't have the industry and the red have the crystals ?
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:33pm
@Yapyrus Gotcha! The map's lore is that the RED team has built an industrial refinery plant to refine frozium using the crystals in the mines (BLU side), that's why there's a mix of caves/mines and industrial buildings; the plan wasn't to make a snow version of Gravelpit, it was to make something new with the original layout of the base map - i understand that it isn't your thing, especially if you were expecting a simple reskin of Gravelpit; thanks for your feedback we'll keep it in mind for future projects!
Yapyrus 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:15pm
The white texture you took precisely makes me think of an hospital, or some sort of scientific facility. I think the textures and assets you chose does not fit the Tf2 asthetic and even if it would, I don't like it, but that's subjective.
It looks futuristic but I don't really know what the map is supossed to be, besides snowy themed.
I think you could improve it by making the map less "cold" or "sanatized" in a sense, there's snow everywhere so we don't need the buildings to be white. Also if you wanted to make a futuristic themed map, you should've gone all the way by making indoor tunnels instead of caves. I don't think the map is bad, but I think it could be improved wildely. That's why I prefer Snowy Gravelpit.
Yontent Yop 9 Nov, 2022 @ 7:13am
Fantastic. Everything Snowy Gravelpit should have been

@Myahster Thanks! It was never our intent to compete with Crash's version since we started working on Frostpit much, much longer before Crash's hinted to his version on his twitter; we do welcome both versions d'oh, as they're both solid yet different takes on the theme.
Myahster 8 Nov, 2022 @ 1:36am
Showing up UEAKCrash, huh. Ballsy.
Still though, great map. It's a completely different vibe from the original.

@✡~Demonic Bones~✡ Thank you so much :D

this map is not just a remake but a big overhaul from the original gravel pit
from all remakes this is one of the best i've seen so far
i've even find the explosive presents a better idea then the normal explosive pumpkins
its such a wonderful map i hope it gets added this year
Pottiz 6 Nov, 2022 @ 10:46am
very good map, hoping to see it in the holidays update! :balloonicorn:
AndyO's™ 6 Nov, 2022 @ 3:50am
I like how this isn't the usual winter themed remake of an already existing map where it mostly has snow. This one has an entirely new theme while keeping the layout.
ED-E 5 Nov, 2022 @ 2:09pm
Great job you guys! Keep my fingers crossed you make it into the smissmass update! :blissful_creep:
Alox  [author] 5 Nov, 2022 @ 1:43pm
@Thomasx#savetf2 we wanted to keep a winter industrial theme with few gifts only, having xmas ornements here would look a bit odd to our taste, but thanks for the suggestion, might consider adding some more festive details.
Thomasx 5 Nov, 2022 @ 1:35pm
It only needs some xmas ornaments and this map is perfect
Wazit 5 Nov, 2022 @ 10:06am
Holy shit, good work
doubledragon 5 Nov, 2022 @ 7:18am
wow a good map!
takow. 5 Nov, 2022 @ 7:04am
I thought it worked very well with the theme, also nice to see the amount of work you did here, and all the details you put!
Hope it gets added
Ryan "Chill" Foy  [author] 5 Nov, 2022 @ 6:58am
@Takow Cheers! I was worried that the industrial remake of the buildings would throw some people off but i'm glad you like it!
takow. 5 Nov, 2022 @ 6:56am
Looks very good
