Looks like the Devs just patched the issue with mechanoids getting penalised for working in the dark, thank you for making this mod tho!

Would you be able to fix the dark vision gene not working with this mod enabled? It would be greatly appreciated since this mod is a very fitting for mechanoids

I mean it depends on how those mechanoids are implemented, but I see no reason why it wouldn't.

Yeah, this mod affects both the Darkness meme and Dark Vision gene. Colonists will receive the normal darkness penalties for move speed and work speed when in darkness with this mod active.

Super cool, but I think it would be even neater if the Tunneler etc. had a headlamp they would auto-activate when in darkness. Same effect, but with the added cool visual (and I guess it would help human workers nearby).

@Dragonfly darkness affects global workspeed and movement speed. I've looked at the source code it does not appear to affect ranged or melee hit chance.

I haven't played RW yet since Biotech. What is the negative of darkness, I'm also guessing like BananaBread that it's a workspeed debuff? What about other things like a hit chance from ranged or melee?

Also, I am also guessing that mechanoids will have equal vision in nighttime versus daytime?

Finally, do mechanoids have better eyesight inherently/in vanilla than humans? Or do they have more than them?

Oh i figured because mechs dont get darkness movement debuff, they also wouldn't get work-speed penalty from darkness, but im assuming this mod exists because they DO get workspeed penalty o:

Cth2004: that's also based on ways we modify human vision! Other currently existing animals are fantastically well adapted to seeing with minimal light. Theres a great deal of the spectrum humans dont perceive thar machines might. Also I'd figure a level of tech that creates semi-autonomous machine minds can slap a flashlight on them too lol but this do be the rim

To be fair, Rimworld does take place 3000 years in the future, so maybe they have better night vision. The mod is just intended for people who think mechs having better night vision makes more sense than them now :shrug:

and, also, night vision isn't as effective (It uses mostly just infared, and in the future maybe radar. Not as good. So, that's why it's slower?
