in civ 4 all air units could do that, why they took away that ability is dumb

I've discovered a glitch/exploit. If you click the Air Sweep button and mouse over the Rebase button with a tile within Air Sweep range behind the button, clicking it will reveal the fog of war without using the Jet Fighter.

It's pretty useful though, so it's up to you if you want to fix it or not.

hey dude thank you for this mod, i am enjoying it. i know you already balanced it, but if i wanted to unbalance it because im a cheating loser where can i change the radius?

The added realism might be nice, but the downside to this mod is the increased number of clicks per turn in the Fighter Era. What was passive and automatic, now requires special attention and time. Cool idea, but a drag on the pace of play.

This mod is fantastic! I still believe what TofuSojo is saying should be implemented however, but all-in-all great mod!

I think for balance you should remove the Air Recon promotion from all the fighters too. That ability let's them automatically reveal all tiles to a range of 6 around them at the start of their turn before doing anything. This simulates them going on an air recon mission, which is exactly what your great mod does directly. This would also mean you could increase the reveal range of your mod up to 6 instead of 3.

Works great and awesome to have this back in Civ, missed it from 4. Any chance you could make a mod that allows bombers to destroy tile improvements (if they are not intercepted of course), like they could in Civ 4?

Recon is added to the air sweep ability, air sweep functions the same as before in every other way. Your sweeping fighter will dogfight any enemy fighters set to intercept, or waste the interception of ground based AA. Your fighter will take damage if there are intercepting units, but not as much as it would from an air strike.

In any case, tiles in the area are revealed.

can the rocon planes be intercepted? If they are, are the tiles still revealed? If so, this is the Mod I always wanted!

Very cool idea, and as you pointed out the default behavior seems dumb since it's extremely unlikely to reveal anything you don't already see. Now Air Sweep feels more useful and closer to how it should have been from the start!

Played a game with this and it's nice. When you have a carrier with 4 planes on it, it's nice to be able to do recon and spot those subs before moving into the kill box.

Yeah, i missed the recon capabilities from civ 4.
And like zArkham4269 and blackhawkcreek said, fortress functioning like airbase would be really nice!

Adding to zArkham4269's request, if forts were enabled to serve as airbases, perhaps it would be good to restrict that airbase to triplanes, fighters and jet fighters. This would simulate the shorter runways at airbases, and provide added incentive to build triplanes and fighters.

This is great. BTW, since I'm not a coder, perhaps you could take this mod one step further. Is it possible to make it such that fortress can act as airbases? I miss the Civ III (?) functionality of having forward deployed air based.

Second, I think that many scout mods don't go far enough. The final scout should be a form of artillery spotter. When next to an arty unit, it would give them a bonus. So whether it's a balloon, LRSU units in the enermies rear or UAVs, they would help indirect fire.

They should. The changes are to the air recon and air sweep abilities themselves, not the individual units, so if the units from your mod already have those abilities, it should work.
