very happy to see this is a permanent map, i really like pelican peak so having an new version available permanently is very nice!

The reason why Sawmill, Nucleus, and other maps having more than one variant of itself is because of all the other variants are tied to different game modes, which perfectly justifies why there are more than one version of the same map. This is just a winter reskin of Pelican Peak being the same game mode as its CTF predecessor.

I meant specifically complaint emails/interviews. As they are known for ignoring those.

I obviously wasn't talking about just any kind of emails or interviews about their projects as a lot of us have experiences emailing Gabe Newell himself about something silly and he would actually reply with even pictures and timestamps to prove is him and not a secretary.

But that's very different from sending a complain to Valve and expect them to take an interview directed to those complaints.

Freya, VALVe has read emails and done interviews? Have you been to the tfconnect livestreams? Anyway, VALVe you absolute trolls LOL, you really did add the same map to the mappool twice. (tbf have you seen sawmill, nucleus? there's so many variants of the same map lol)

If Valve doesn't read emails nor do interviews, what makes you guy think that relevant devs at Valve are going to be reading the comments of a map that most people forgot about?

VALVE needs to put this back in Smissmiss rotation, it was already lazy for them to add this map in the game in the first place.

Valve really be like "Ok but what if we put the same map in the everyday casual rotation twice?"

Sorry if this sounds aggressive, but can you ask Valve to remove Penguin Peak from the regular map rotation? 🥺

I never hate on maps/workshop items in general due to me hating the toxicity.
But this is just an extremely lazy reskin of Pelican Peak, and Pelican Peak actually is a low tier map cuz it sucks. This is just lazy.
Come on do better!

Here are some things I noticed about the map from my own matches:

I really like this map's gameplay. Its level design doesn't suffer from "2Fort/Doublecross syndrome"! The map has amazing sightlines, good amounts of cover, alright medkit and ammo placement, some interesting sentry spots, cool and effective flank routes (I LOVE THE BUNKER/SEWER), AND a cool gimmick/mechanic to boot. One of the best CTF maps I've ever played, and that's no joke.
Great class balance, too! I feel like almost any class can be effective here. The "snipers stand here in battlements" spot isn't OP unlike other CTF maps! The spot has many methods of approach but you can counter-snipe or spam at it VERY EASILY! Snipers usually can't overextend outside of it, cuz they're left VERY EXPOSED. They'll usually get killed by heavies or soldiers if they peak too far out or fall down.

One of the critiques I have is the sightline from the intel-facing spawn room is LONG and MISERABLE to go out of.

This map has quickly become one of my favorites. I WILL be buying a map stamp, for sure!!
I don't know why so many people hate it? It's a good map??? THE INTELS ARE PENGUINS WITH A PHONE-BRICK ON THEIR BACK!? Maybe not the most original setting (smissmass update syndrome) but DAMN IS IT AWESOME! ESPECIALLY for a CTF map!!

Hey map creators, I'd like to know if the penguins you capture are a reference to the "Penguin" weapon from Half-Life: Opposing Force. If so, I'd add that information to the Official TF2Wiki article with source.

We already have Pelican Peak in the game which is all year round, Why did Valve added the holiday version of it. So lazy.

The tf2c maps fit the game so well. Glad to see this one got in!

@Jolly Juno [VF4-A] this map was meant for TF2 tho, TF2C devs just ported it to their servers, same with PL_Jinn.
