You don't need it for all episodes. Its recommended.

thanks! btw is cant play save (sorry). I dont have CS:S or HL2

You go into your "SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\saves" folder. Then find your file and image(for example 23uei3997). You can then modify the image. When you restart GMod, your modified image will show up instead of the old one.
