Yes... this is a bit confusing on my end. Technically the "experimental version" is more advanced and should be used. It also has multiplayer support.
My original plan was to just test some stuff on the experimental version, and then implement it in this main version.
But now I am at a point where the bahaviour between the 2 is slightly different, both have a lot of downloads and I don't really wanna replace one with the other so as to not bother someone that might prefer this old version. Though by now I also forgot what exactly was different, except that THIS version has NO MULTIPLAYER!! (so for that please use experimental)

@davidcoley the "buffed" version is technically not mine, and is also just a copy with the default settings in the config changed.
I think I could access and fix it too, but I won't since I am currently adding a few things to this and the experimental version (commands, better config?, API for other mods, creative mode behaviour)

as for the stuff moving that can be due to it beeing too heavy but still small enough to be grabbed.

i think you mix some stuff up.
there are 2 possible mp methods which one of them having 2 options.
the 2 possible mp methods are coop with one player beeing the host and the others ar ebeeing clients and the other one would be a dedicated server which can either be done via the keen server manager or the torch server manager.

and as far as i understand what you have written you say you have a problem that only the host on a server can use it, which by itself wouldnt be possible due to the host in this case beeing the server which is no player that even could use it.

as for my experience so far around half a year ago in a coop world i as the host and the client where able to use it while we had the experimental version https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2891367014 of it running.

Mz - If you see this, is there anyway that anyone besides the Host, on a SE server, can be able to use the Grabby hands in Multiplayer? Right now it seems only the host is able to perform the Tricks? thanks! ( Is this solved in Dedicated Servers?)

If I can grab a block see it highlight goldish and a green line extends but no movement what am I missing?

thank you MZ - This MOD IS the only way to do Scrapyard Scenario...otherwise it would be too tedious to grab all those blocks with some crane thingy......you are awesome!

You are a legend @mz, really I popped in here to check on this mod because I tried booting up a splitsie scrapyard scenario and realized the update broke the mod and was astounded to see you already updated it. Thank you so much!

For those that NEED their grabby hands, Keen at least made it easier to roll back. Open SE settings in steam, select Betas, select "Contact" v1.205 since you can only select major versions. Let it update, then run game and you have successfully rolled back to a working version... until stuff gets fixed.

I can concur, I am currently doing a scrapyard scenario, logged in and can't grab a thing, I exited, unsuscribed and reloaded everything and "grabby hands" is no more :( This Scrapyard is impossible without it....is keen adding their own version ? If not why change keybind? Does anyone or has anyone found a fix yet? thanks!

Keen changed Keebinding, so that you have more options they said in ther livestream, so i asume, this brakes the keebind from this mod

I can confirm, after the Fieldwork update I couldn't grab or manipulate anything anymore. Even attempted to change the keybinding and still nothing.

It's not intended, because... well thats not how physics work, but yes you can push a grid you are standing on. (for i think 3s then the it disconnects)

are you hands empty? you will need empty hands to be able to do it besides beeing in range and the target you want to grab beeing light enough to be moved if you want to grab something.

Is there a way to change the keybind for grabbing with R? I press it and it does nothing, even tho I have the mod added to my world

I tested it once. Blocks from a ship cannot be grabbed either. But with a magnetic plate/chassis it works. As soon as detach mode is used, the block cannot be grabbed. It doesn't matter whether the block is from a station or ship.

So far I've tried this on one block from the station. Not off the ship yet.

Sorry, I forgot that the detach mode is from the other mod. Just thought about the grabbing with this mod.

ah yes, one of the reasons why I made this mod. Any after the block was detached it can't be picked up?
Always / only if the main grid was a station/voxel connected / at random?
Can the block be moved with other ships?

I need more information on how to replicate and test this.
It would be helpful to have a reliable way to reproduce the issue (step-by-step or a world download).
But I don't handle those "detached" blocks any other than normal blocks, so maybe the issue is with advanced welding

"andvanced welding" https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=510790477 can be used to detach blocks instead of needing to grid down a block to sever another block form the grid.

Something no longer works with the mod. Detache mode no longer works properly. Although the block floats, it cannot be grabbed. Even if all the blocks around are gone. Then the game doesn't react to the fact that it's a free-floating block. If "Detach Mode" was not previously used on this block, the block will already float and can be grabbed.

The "Detach-Mode" is probably broken.

The stationary block setting is off.

With the latest SE update, there are times that I cannot get grabby hands to let go of what I was holding. The object would stop being highlited, but the line is still there and im still able to drag it around. I keep pressing the 'R' key, but it just won't let go. Also, I am able to invoke grabbing a objects while still holding a tool (grinder, welder, etc).

I also had this problem, i tried and tried, spent quite some tike on in, tried to change the keybind from the native -hold R- (didnt find it, maybe i missed the Build Info /Text HUD mods) and blabla....
But my case is quite especific, i made a server with Torch recently and because i dont read :sefacepalm: this mod doesnt work in MP Intances. That why the creator made an experimental version of this that to me, does work perfectly
In my case the Intance is set to experimental and the mod gets loaded with priority in my mod list, if that helps in anything

Wanted to add that I'm not having luck with this one either. Basically it doesn't seem to respond - I press R, I hold R - nothing happens.
The mod is "active" as I see the key change message in chat, though I don't see it in the mod settings menu (F2) - IDK if I'm supposed to?

I do have a bunch of mods, including MES w/ some "faction" mods, as well as a bunch of block mods and UI mods. TBH I'm not looking forward to trying to figure out if one of those conflicts, but if I do and find out which one, I'll post here.

well I also cant control any object i try to pickup, I can grap fine but getting to just not moving is impossible :(
