Report a translation problem
That is super weird... I'll try to investigate further and see if I can figure out what's going on. Maybe try uninstalling her (and/or the game) and reinstalling? (Yeah, we're falling back on THAT old I.T. standby.)
I ran a quick test on my local machine, but as far as I can tell, Whimsy is running correctly. Can you try disabling any other mods you've installed (to see if some incompatibility may be causing the issue) and, if the problem persists, sending me your error logs?
No problem at all. I looked into your issue, and it turns out I made a pretty goofy mistake. The game checked (for DST) if certain items were marked as equippable, but not (for DS) if they had a dapperness component, so any item (like a straw hat) that normally doesn't affect sanity by being equipped, but does for Whimsy, causes the game to crash in DS. This was a good catch, and your bug report was essential in helping me sort it out, so thank you! I should have a new version uploaded in a few minutes.
The following mod(s) have caused a failure: Whimsy the Goth (DST)
...t_starve/data/../mods/workshop-289099215/modmain.lua:379: attempt to index field 'dapperness' (a mil value)
LUA ERROR stack traceback:

C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/dont_starve/data/scripts/mainfunctions.lua(136,1)

Then below it said the mod will be disabled.
I noticed it said 'Whimsy the Goth (DST)', I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Anyways, again, thank you.
If you can send me the image, I can try to reproduce the issue. Are you using any other mods? If so, which ones?
Whimsy is the best. She is hard, but she is powerful if you are good. Play her for ten million hours. :)
Do let me know if any of you guys find any bugs, or if you try her out in RoG.
I have succeeded in getting Whimsy walking around in Don't Starve Together. The new client-server dynamic is proving challenging, but I've learned how on Earth net variables work, and I'm starting to learn how not to immediately crash the game when I write new code. Many of Whimsy's core functions still work, and I've restored some of them. Her nightvision works even better now, and removing her umbrella in broad daylight now has the amusing consequence of near-blindness. However, several core functions still need updating, such as her refusal to eat raw meat. Still, I am heartened that my interoperability code is working; it should be possible to support Don't Starve with the same codebase (roughly speaking).
Now, if only I could work out how the little avatar on the multiplayer start screen works, or get her to talk about the sunrise on the client...
Everyone, I'm deeply shocked and honored to open this page, over a year after I abandoned the project in a panic, to discover that over a THOUSAND people are subscribed to Whimsy, and that people STILL comment here. In the words of Strong Bad, "That is not a small number! That is a BIG number!"
I'm going to try to do better by you guys. I can't promise much, but I can promise I'll do my best. Thank you all for your patronage.
@WodnikPL: Próbuję! :) Ponadto, nie mówię po polsku. Przepraszam! Używam tłumacza google! :)
@Natashi: I'm working on the DST version. I kept meaning to, and I kept looking at the API, and it was BIG and DIFFERENT and CONFUSING and then I got anxious about how long it was taking, so I kind of shut down. SW will happen if/when I can make it happen, which may not be for a while.
- I'd like a config option to adjust her nightly sanity gain, currently it feels a little too high. Since daytime sanity loss is easy to negate by carrying an umbrella, she effectively has a large net sanity gain at the cost of occupying one inventory slot.
- contrary to what the description says, she doesn't appear to actually lose sanity from touching rot.
Oh, and I'll have to merge the code, too. I actually got a goodly number of things working, including her DST atlases, before RoG dropped on my head. She could actually walk around and randomly crash the game!
I agree, DST really shook up the works. It certainly knocked the more exotic functions in my nunpublished ight light mod for a loop, not least by completely reworking how shadow creatures are managed, and transparentonsanity became client-only... bleh.
Let me know if you're actually interested in contributions. ;-)
Oh, btw: taking a lightning bolt hit in RoG deactivates Whimsy's light aura. Had it happen twice underground when a Rook whacked an altar, and another time on the surface engaging Moslings at night. Magiluminescence saved her bacon, though she was complaining loudly about your coding skills after taking the odd hit from Charlie. ;-)
Derringer: Since I eventually plan to release a version with DST support, and since that one will ultimately supersede the other version, I'd prefer to maintain control of the project. However, I really appreciate your support, and I'd happily add you as a contributor if you're still interested.
Spade: A sound change is actually in the works. Eventually. I've got two words for you: wind chimes. No male version is planned, though. She's cuter as a girl. :)
Sasidash123: I'm sorry to hear you don't like Whimsy. Do you have any specific issues with her, or is she just not to your taste?
