Oh, hello! Could the shortcut for your mod's coffee cup model be named after your mod, like "Closest Material"? And could it also display the shortcut key when hovering over it, just like other tools do? I have always thought that it didn't have a shortcut because "plan" seems completely unrelated to Closest Material. I believe it would be much better if it were named after the mod itself.
Additionally, could it display the size of the selected area like a mining tool? That would be really helpful for me. Thank you very much, and I'm looking forward to your update!

The problem with this mod still exists. I just used the functionality of this mod yesterday, this game immediately crashed and the save was also damaged with cannot be opened. Although I deleted the mod and reinstalled the game, the problem still exists

The error message is the same as the previous two friends' errors in this message

Hi, I get this crash report when I click on anything and click the Material tab in the Options of any building. I first noticed it on an automatic dispenser but it's happened for pretty much everything else as well.

I couldn't simulate the problem, I click on the Ratio Box and it appears normally without any crashes or errors in the LOG.

Create a Discussion in the MOD, so we can look into it more thoroughly, I think it's better than staying here in the chat...

In the discussion, put the link to a save that has the problem so I can download it and test it on my side, I actually created it with all the asteroids and it worked without any problems.

But I noticed that the native game, whenever I click on an element on the screen, writes FALSE in the log, I found it strange..

See if you can tell me two pieces of information to help me with the test tonight:
1) What object were you trying to change the material of?
2) Do you know if there was actually any other material that could be used?

@Luna I added an "old_" folder to the MOD, it has the old version of the MOD. Try opening it and deleting all use of the "Closest" Material within the save.

We recently talked with other Oxygen Not Included Devs.

The problem thats currently happening is you deleted the "Element Closest" Element that existed in the previous version of your mod.
The game cannot load the element because it no longer exists.
Either we need the old version of the mod with the element you added, or you need to make an update to the mod re-adding the "Element Closest" object. Because you changed it from an element to a button.

Both me and Echo have tried this. We are currently talking this solution does not work. Can we just have the old version of the mod. Or atleast a more direct line of communication? This is getting Outrageous.

From what I've discovered while testing, Steam leaves some traces when updating the MOD, especially if the MOD uses a CONFIG file and stops using it... Try the following procedure:

1) Unsubscribe from the MOD
2) Close the game (if you haven't closed it)
3) Close STEAM
3) Delete the MOD folder
4) Open Steam
5) Open the game

This will force the new version to be downloaded... There's a file called "plan.yaml" that's no longer used and Steam still seems to be downloading it along with the MOD, if anything just deleting this file also solved the problem in my tests...

What I suspect is happening between all 3 of Is our save is seeking for the "element closest material" but it can't find it and crashes. If we could have the older version of the mod I bet it would fix it

If you used the old version of the Mod, try deleting its folder first... Also send the error log so I know what exactly might be causing the conflict... I didn't understand the translation error, it has no translation, it's only in English for now... I tested it on several saves and with friends and had no problems. In 24 hours I will analyze it again.

ENGLISH:The MOD has undergone a refactoring, there are no longer any options or fictitious material in the game.

To use the MOD, simply select the option on the material selection screen, once active, it will search for the closest material of the same category regardless of which one was chosen.

The MOD tool still exists, to replace any blueprint already existing on the map.





PORTUGUES: O MOD passou por uma refatoração, não existe mais as opções nem o material ficticio dentro do jogo.

Para usar o MOD, basta apenas selecionar a opção na tela de seleção de material, uma vez ativo, ele irá buscar o material mais próximo da mesma categoria independente de qual foi escolhido.

A ferramenta do MOD ainda existe, para substituir qualquer blueprint já existenteno mapa.

The latest update didn't have any changes to the MOD code.

I'm looking into a way to simplify the MOD without having to use Material Closest, the game has had a lot of changes in material categories and the like. Every time I fix it, the game releases an update changing something.

Latest update appears broken;

Element Closest is still selectable as a material, but upon setting plan to build it isn't replacing it with a nearby material.

kinda useful but also pretty buggy. sometimes it chooses the material closest itself and sometimes it builds out of something that it cannot be built out of, like conduction panel out of iron ore

Hiya, does this mod no longer work with the base game? I've just come back to this game after a couple of years and this mod nolonger seems to work (after reinstalling, too). I don't have any of the DLC (yet?) so maybe that's the issue?

The problem is that whenever placing something with 'element closest' listed as the element, it stays as element closest , instead of changing.
This is legitimately my favourite QOL mod, if there's anything I can do to help with bug fixing let me know

When using the tool on blueprint, it seems to swap refined metal with raw metals even through raw metal weren't allowed for the building. Note this was tested with customized element mod enabled on default setting.

In the MOD options there are settings that allow the MOD to work in these three scenarios:
1) When building something using CLOSEST MATERIAL, it CAN automatically change to the closest allowed material
2) When building something using CLOSEST MATERIAL, it CANNOT automatically change to the closest allowed material, so you need the tool to make this change manually
3) An additional option that allows the tool to update Blueprints not only from the "CLosest Material" to another, but from any material to any other material... For example, if your blueprint uses Sandstone but the map does not have sandstone, the tool (if the MOD option is turned on) will change the sandstone to another that the map has.


About allowing these other materials, I will analyze it... The game may change how to classify the materials and that would really affect the MOD. Thanks for letting me know.

This Mod has prevented me from making High-pressure gas vents? (no Idea why) and has started an odd behaviour of allowing ANYTHING to be used to make things such as copper ore on items where only refined metals would work.
