Hey, I'm making a Halo themed mod for Cosmoteer, and I was wondering if I could use some of your code for hangar bays and fighters? I'll make sure to fully credit you for anything I use. I've been waiting to make real carriers for a while, so if I could that'd be awesome.

Haha thanks! I look forward to your updated drones mod.
Let me know when the porting is done. When this mod is more mature, I would love to make this an add-on mod for your drones mod. Having a unified drones ecosystem should be less confusing for the players, and it's less work for me as well ;)

Ok, I'll check missile drones and see if I can replicate the crash.
About the drones range - I can double-check in game, but all offensive drones should launch at 600 range, so I'm not sure what you're talking about? (The stats are misleading because I haven't had time to work on those yet. Ignore the stats for now.)

The Missile Drone crashes quite often for me. Also could you increase the ranges to like 500-600 on the drones they are technically missiles.

@Fakerion Ah I was really hoping v0.1.3 fixed the frequent crashes, but I guess not. There must be something I missed.
Which drone(s) were you using when it crashed? In what kind of situation? If you have a craft save file or a screenshot, that would help me replicate the situation and track down the cause of the crash.

v0.1.3: Prototype missile drones. The launcher currently uses the missile launcher's icon in the ship editor. Uses 4 HE missile parts to launch a drone.

@IronSides ok, I'll look into shield collisions.
As for drone targeting, it will stay the way it is. Mechanically, I don't have that much control over how a drone selects its target part. Drone will use the targeted part upon launch, but randomly re-target once the initial targeted part is destroyed. The ship doesn't have a way to update the drone's target once launched. Thematically, I like the idea that drones are more powerful and by nature have less placement restrictions, but you have less direct control over the drones themselves.

v0.1.2 should fix an issue with PD drones disappearing around large crafts. That may also be the cause of some Not-a-Number crashes, so I think that should be fixed? Let me know if those NaN crashes still happen for you.
Hopefully no more issues with PD drones. If this goes well, I want to work on a missile bombing drone next.

also they do not follow attack orders when you click a specific part.

@syy1125 The point defense drone is useful if your against lightly armored ships and with the drone taking only 1 tile I was able to "make" newtype mobile armors from mobile suit gundam hahaha. since beam emitting drones can't be possible what about solid projectiles like cannons, railgun or missiles. and could you try making a 3x3 or 3x2 drone pod with tiny point defense drones that launches 5-7 of them?

@XenonBurstZX Thanks for testing! Disruptors and heavy lasers will come later - mechanically they are very similar to what the laser drone does, and right now I'm focused on making sure the tech behind drones work as intended.
I assume the Ion Laser you're talking about is the Ion Beam in game? I couldn't find a way to get a drone to emit a damaging beam, so I don't know if beam drones are possible.

@syy1125 I see thanks for the update I'll test the point defense drone on creative mode. Have you tried Ion Laser drones (forgot the full name of that laser thingy), disruptors or heavy laser drones?

So I tried to make a point defense drone. They're available in v0.1.1 now.
Without getting into the technicalities, if I try to get a drone to shoot too many times, for some reason the game freezes (specifically the ship library and load ship functionality, of all things). I don't know the solution to that problem, which means I will have to design drones that execute slower, more powerful attacks.
That's why PD drones have low fire rate, and I raised the damage of each shot to compensate.

It is the similar to @Ookami but I mostly mess around with it on creative as it is still in its early stages. I usually create "Bits Pod" which contains about 5-20 of laser drones and I keep seeing that they only attack the sides of a ship and are quite slow at reaching near the target and sometimes they don't even hit the ship. I'd also like for you to make a point defense drone cuz why not.

@Ookami Thanks for the feedback! Good to know it's at least somewhat working. The part where drones keep shooting at a dead ship is similar to how missiles behave in principle. I'll have to poke around and see if there's any way to tell the drone "stop stop it's already dead"
@PacketInc The mod adds a laser drone launcher. Look in the energy weapons section, it should look just like a small laser blaster.

Got 2 out from a single building in a fight, flew around at massive range and fired a shot occasionally, continued to shoot even when ship was dead. Hope feed back helps.
