please update
MatMax 29 Oct, 2024 @ 5:39am
The mod is broken. There are no places on the map with a hydro power plant and normal power plants produce no goods.
Semper Augustus 4 Oct, 2024 @ 10:50am
It says I cannot switch to electric trains because I dont have power, same for sawmills. However, I have 5 levels of fully staffed powerplant...what am I doing wrong?
Pamparampampamparam 2 Aug, 2024 @ 8:34am
I wonder if it would be possible to make electricity production effect adjacent states instead of just the state the plant is built in.

@Everybody An update is being prepared.
Drinkingdark1 7 Dec, 2023 @ 2:59pm
Hi there, I am having a problem with this mod and your other mod "realistic oil refineries. "

When I enable either this or the other mod, electricity and/or oil simply... disappears from the buildings, with no way to produce either of them. If I turn off the mods, they can produce it it again.
No other mods in conflict, since I've attempted to just run these two standalone. Even running this one standalone makes electricity go poof.
Impaler 24 Nov, 2023 @ 3:23am
Note that the River traits with its Infrastructure bonus is meant for NAVIGABLE rivers, aka slow broad rivers. Hydro electricity is best produced in rapidly flowing rivers or waterfalls, the exact OPPOSITE of where rivers are navigable. Your hydro resources should but up in the mountain provinces, not down in the valley's. This will be both more realistic and better balance mountains which currently just suck.
Impaler 22 Nov, 2023 @ 10:02pm
Also with regard to rivers, what you should be doing putting the Hydro Plant under Resource section of buildings, and having a maximum number just like for coal or iron. This will let you have a much more realistic and fine grained control over the amount of Hydro available rather then just going off the binary river trait.
Impaler 22 Nov, 2023 @ 9:55pm
Calling it a 'electric power plant' is redundant. Just shorten the name to Hydro Power Plant
Zenvictplayer 19 Nov, 2023 @ 5:51am
Does the mod still work in 1.5?
The_cold_pyro 15 Nov, 2023 @ 10:55am
Norway even today have over 90% of its electricity from Hydroelectricity. But in this mod there is 0
Talen 22 May, 2023 @ 10:08am
Is this mod dead?
Maplover  [author] 1 Feb, 2023 @ 11:45pm
@SN9000 Good Idea... I will consider it in next update
Maplover  [author] 1 Feb, 2023 @ 11:44pm
@Everybody Thx guys I will add the rivers u guys said to me in the next updates
SN9000 1 Feb, 2023 @ 12:25pm
Looks like state of Rostov is missing a hydro plant. Just a random find, I haven't checked extensively.

Also, in the Balkans states Skopia and Macedonia should have a river called Vardar (that would not be a major river) flowing through them (and a few lakes missing too).

Apart from that, I have a suggestion. Why not have minor and major hydro plants. After all, in a lot of these mountainous areas (like Western Balkans) there are a lot of small rivers and a lot of potential for hydro due to those rivers flowing from high areas to lower ones, and a lot of valleys that can easily made into artificial lakes when dammed (which is how it is in reality).

So the places where you have already added hydro plants would be major hydro plants, but places with mountains and the right climate (not desert) would have minor hydro plants with limited output or building level (say building level being caped to lvl 5).
superduck500 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:01pm
Can you ad hydro to states that have lakes such as uganda?
othtim 28 Dec, 2022 @ 2:21pm
same problem as Roasted_Cat . Ontario province gives +600% to hydro, but cant actually build it.
zarathustra 0211 18 Dec, 2022 @ 4:43am
can we build any hydro power plant at Vistula?
Talen 13 Dec, 2022 @ 6:07pm
More specifically the provinces on the Swedish side of the border?
Talen 13 Dec, 2022 @ 6:03pm
Could you add a modifier for the Scandinavian mountains? They were, and still are, hugely important in producing hydro power in these countries.
Mer 11 Dec, 2022 @ 9:21am
I love your work and appreciate the time you put into it. Would it be possible to use parts of your code in a mod I'm developing? You will be accredited of course. Cheers. : )
[De~Yupuro] Roasted_Cat 10 Dec, 2022 @ 9:45am
To be clear Im specifically talking about the ones in the various canadian puppets.
[De~Yupuro] Roasted_Cat 10 Dec, 2022 @ 9:42am
I noticed that some provinces with the 600% bonus cant actually build the buildings said bonus is meant to boost. Is this intentional?
Dick Johnson 6 Dec, 2022 @ 12:57pm
만주에 북만주쪽에 아무르강이 있습니다.
포장수력이 4500만kW이고 남만주에 송화강또한 중국에서 수력발전중이므로
게임에 반영할만하다고 생각합니다
Jef 2 Dec, 2022 @ 3:49pm
Excellent mod that fixes a very annoying and unrealistic part of the game. My only criticism is that the icons are not great. I could try and make a better hydro power plant icon if you want.
Joque DeLong 2 Dec, 2022 @ 10:13am
I love the feature, but really love Anbeeld's Revision of AI just to offload managing my ports and rails to the programmable player assistant AI build bot. Hope Paradox rolls something like both of these mods into the main game because I want them both to always work..
Wwolin 2 Dec, 2022 @ 9:03am
For some reason, even when I load this mod last in the mod order (so it should just overwrite anything it conflicts with), the newly added rivers don't seem to appear.
tKitashiro 2 Dec, 2022 @ 6:30am
@Maplover Anytime :)
me too I also enjoy learning romanized-spellings!

@한복스님 이 모드 폴더에서 들어가서 map_date 부분만 삭제하면 호환될 거에요. 다만 강 트레잇이 보이지 않아서 어디에 강을 지을 수 있는 지 없는 지 확인하기는 어려워집니다.
Maplover  [author] 2 Dec, 2022 @ 1:38am
@tKitashiro Thanks for translating the newly added rivers into Japanese. I'll apply it in the next update. It's fun to learn about the similarities between Korean and Japanese.

이 모드가 다른 경작지 모드를 덮어씌우는데 어떻게 해야하나요? 배열은 이모드보다 아래에 했는데도 자꾸 다른 모드를 덮어 씌웁니다
tKitashiro 2 Dec, 2022 @ 12:04am
Tips;
- The Korean word "江(gang/kang, is river)" is corresponds 1:1 with Japanese word "川(kawa/gawa, is river)".
- When machine translating between sentences containing kanji-words(e.g. ko:江 -> en:river -> ja:川) with similar meanings may be replaced with the native languages. (e.g. ko:江 -> en:river -> ja:江)

Cheers.

Hello, I noticed New York have a bonus for Hydroeletric generation, but it's not possible to build in the state, so I imagine thats a problem?
Maplover  [author] 1 Dec, 2022 @ 9:18pm
And now supports Japanese as well. tKitashiro translated it, and I googled the river added in this patch and translated it myself.
Maplover  [author] 1 Dec, 2022 @ 9:10pm
@Everyone I added some rivers and fixed a bug. Please see the change notes for details. If there is something that is not reflected, it is highly likely that I have omitted it because I am Functional illiterate in English, so please tell me again.
Aethilias 1 Dec, 2022 @ 4:33pm
Yeah, Norway is powered pretty much exclusively by hydroelectric plants to this day, actually.
christian.nipales 30 Nov, 2022 @ 11:44pm
I wanted this! Although Could you make a Hoover Dam special building? Like a special modifier in Arizona?
[Army of Two] AXIS 30 Nov, 2022 @ 11:44am
Norway have a lot of rivers, mountains with strong strams and waterfalls.
Norwegian industrialization began with this pretty much.
[Army of Two] AXIS 30 Nov, 2022 @ 11:42am
So now Norway can go full Hydro power! As historically accurate!

Havent tested this yet, but I am guessing Norway gets lots of river power?
Madmouse Ked 30 Nov, 2022 @ 5:15am
For other people adding:
state_region = s:STATE_NEW_YORK
to the rpp_urban_center.txt with the other similar lines fixes this
Madmouse Ked 30 Nov, 2022 @ 5:04am
It appears there may be a small error, Niagra falls (New York state) can't actually build a hydro-electric dam
듀공 30 Nov, 2022 @ 12:54am
아가리또 센세!
Stannis the Mannis 29 Nov, 2022 @ 7:09pm
My suggestion would be to maybe add a productivity bonus to states that have a river + mountain terrain.
CornBrad 29 Nov, 2022 @ 10:30am
Can you add some river traits and dam potential to Colombia and Venezuela? The Magdalena and Orinoco rivers in both countries are major transport arteries for industry and commerce even in the colonial era. Not only were there rudimentary early dams and water mills there, one of the world's largest (the Simon Bolivar dam) is located on this network in Venezuela (which obviously is not possible with Victorian era technology, but there were plenty of dams and water mills in the area before then since the change in elevation from mountains to savannah offer many easy opportunities to divert water or build reservoirs)

PLUS, there's always the song, Orinoco Flow :)

Wish they had these simple things in the vanilla game...
tKitashiro 28 Nov, 2022 @ 3:45pm
# memo;
# There are less wider river in Japan, traditionally dams(incl. Elec-gen.) were built in a continuous "River-system" from near the water source in the mountains.
# It seems that the oldest dam for electric-power generation was built in Hokkaido in 1918, but this is not well known of domestics.
#
# Although it is Non-lore, if it is widely known to local-Japanese peoples and does not break the game balance, I recommend the following.
#
# 1. 黒部川水系(en: Kurobe River-system. ko: 구로베강) Nagano=Toyama Pref. CHUBU.
# 2. 利根川水系(en: Tone-gawa River-system. ko: 도네강) Total 8 Prefacture, of Kanto-regions.
# *2. this is Convertion of "state_trait_arakawa_river", Kanto-regions.
#
# There are countless dams in other regions, but introducing other regions may break the game balance.
# If 1/3 - 1/4 of all states are suitable for location, I think it will give players an incentive to use other power souces together.
