Yeah I'll look into it. The reason it's an oddity is because carols didn't use to loop, so many many modded chars, especially old ones don't have looping carols, if they have them at all.

@Lucas good to know, btw in this new patch do you think I'd be possible to make Ness & Ninten's carols loop, it's a common oddity ive noticed with some mod characters

Disregard the logs and modlist. Will be working on a patch but disable Ninten if you're not using him, that will fix the crash.

I also tested with the baseball bat. Let me follow a hunch, but yeah work sending those logs and the mod list in the meantime

@Lucas something I should mention is that the game only crashes when i crit kill a boss with the baseball bat specifically, when i killed a treegaurd with the hambat things worked as intended, I will also provide my mod list and later. BTW this is one of my favorite modded characters, I love the mother series and I enjoy the way you characterized Ness

@Dimond Timbs tested killing a tree guard with a crit on the workshop build of the mod and did not experience a crash; I need your logs. Post them on pastebin and send the link, you can find them under Documents/Klei/Donotstarvetogether on Windows. A modlist would also be helpful.

1. This is a problem with Ness lacking Modded Skins API support, although it is intended. IE. low priority until his skins are delivered to me (will be a bit so sit tight).

2. Let me look into the boss enemy thing. That one keeps rearing its ugly head back in no matter how many times I've patched that specific bug at this point.

Hey I would like to report 2 bugs, 1. (very minor) ness's portrait sometimes won't appear in the character select
2. (quite big) when fighting a "boss enemy" ie, treegaurd or deerclops when Ness kills them with a SMAAAAAAAAAASH hit it will crash the game, i don't know what's causing either of these bugs, but a patch would be much appreciated, i can also provide the mods im using with Ness if that could also cause any issues

I hope so too...I think Paula with stuff like the teddy bear and Jeff with the random machinery he can make from sleeping in actual Earthbound gives them a lot of potential for mechanics in DST

documents/klei/donotstarvetogether on Windows. I need the master_server_log from the server host if it's a server crash. Client side crash (only the affected person disconnects) then client_log from the person that crashed. Pastebin should be fine. If you've restarted the game since the crash then the logs won't show anything unfortunately, though.

I completely understand catering to all levels if play. If your logs so I can look at these crashes I would appreciate that a lot. I've been thinking about a Homesickness redesign (I think the current implementation could use some work) but in the meantime I could look into configuration. Just get me those logs if you can.

I'm glad your friends are having fun with the mods! I use Claus a lot myself, Miz does good work.

Could you maybe add a configuration option to remove homesickness entirely? One time I had a crash related to Ness that mentioned homesickness, so I assumed the game didn't know what to do when a character was "transformed" and died during such. Also, some other time ness crashed while mentioning the baseball bat.
(Also funny how in a server with 2 of my friends, I'm playing Lucas. I have it set so PSI doesn't use sanity since we're all MEGA casual players and just wanna have fun. We're Ness, Ninten, and Lucas)

Maintaining high sanity. Foods with hunger value >= 75 can reduce its effects temporarily with Veggie Burger being more effective at it. Offense Up on yourself has the same effect but it costs sanity to use so it's not a perfect solution.

Likely due to Modded Skins API if you have it enabled. It can break portraits for mods that aren't compatible and Ness isn't. The mod will work just fine, but portraits won't show up.

Ness skins are planned. I cannot promise when they'll come.

I was killing, surviving, don't starving, than my sanity droped to nearly 0 and when I was fighting shadows he started talking about him wanting to go home and I died loosing my world. Anyways 10/10 mod :monsterlove:

Yep. Farming nightmare fuel being more difficult was intended design. I'm not sure what exactly your asking for, since homesickness is tied directly to sanity. If you're insane, you're homesick. I think changing the favorite food will make him a lot more lenient in going to lower sanity, I thought about Honey Ham and Turkey Dinner but I'm currently leaning towards the Veggie Burger.

So currently PK Flash won't let you target mobs that don't move at all. It's an oversight that will be fixed in the next patch.

The consecutive attacks thing tends to be a server lag issue and turning off lag compensation usually fixes it. It COULD be possible my mod is causing it but after rigorous testing I'm not able to reproduce it so it's hard to address. I've made some code changes and just have to hope. It's in the next patch as well.

After using PK Flash Omega against a swarm of spiders I must say that Ness really makes up for his downsides but it remains a sore spot to me that you're totally screwed when a Terrorbeak shows up. This also makes getting Nightmare Fuel either overly risky or tedious. I guess you can call that a "High risk high reward" situation, but I don't know. Getting a heads-up so you know you have to do something about i right now would make day-to-day gameplays smoother at least.

As for an alternate favourite food, I think a Turkey Dinner would be a specific enough recipe without normally being worth the effort while being eaglelandian enough to count as a familiar taste. Otherwise Honey Ham is also somewhat steak-like while easier to make.

Also bug news: I can't use PK Flash Omega against, tentacles, only use it to attack them normally. Also also it sometimes seems to me like consecutive attacks don't hit, don't know whether it's related to this mod.

This is the part where you're expecting me to say "wow I did not know about the extra loot for capturing butterflies and bees" but nah I knew about that. That was one of the few exploits where I was like "yeah I'll patch it out when someone points it out," but tbh if people like it I'll keep it. I'm not ecstatic about it since you're working around naughtiness for it but mehhhhhh more work to patch it out.

I have two potential solutions. First, working on the Don't Starve port (yes that's real) I changed his favorite food in SW to Surf 'n' Turf and Steamed Ham Sandwich in Hamlet, since there's no way to get Trunk Steak in the DLC. But giving him access to a favorite food that is significantly more accessible makes managing homesickness a lot easier and encourages using his PSI more often, so I'm considering doing the same in DST. I just don't know what I would change it to.

Second, I was considering adding a delay before the next stage of homesickness starts before you reach that sanity threshold, that way you have a little bit of time to prepare and potentially fix it. Let me know your thoughts, the feedback is appreciated!

I wouldn't describe insanity as 'significant' disadvantage but rather as a slight inconvenience but then again I play Wigfrid and all my problems are solved with the f key. Nevertheless, it was sort of intentional design for late stage homesickness to just make Ness completely dysfunctional. I did not know it wakes you up from sleep, that can be patched. I agree it discourages PSI but that was also intentional, but maybe it discourages it TOO much.

I think Homesickness is too grave. Normally insanity is a significant disadvantage. Homesickness makes it a straight death sentence. With it you can't avoid fights because of Nightmare creatures, you can't win fights because it screws up the kiting, and when a Terrorbeak shows up you can't even flee. And seriously, it even wakes you up when sleeping? How am I supposed to regenerate sanity then? This also heavily discourages using the Psi spells. I think the bouts of homesickness need to be telegragphed or in fixed intervals so the player can prepare for it, or only once a minute (and maybe longer in exchange).

I approve of getting extra loot for vanquishing bees and butterflies with my bug net though. Sweet victory indeed.

Thanks! I don't seem to be crashing anymore, but at the moment it doesn't seem like PK Flash is actually inflicting any damage on my end onto any of the immediate enemies I've seen, namely rabbits and birds thus far

Fixed. The problem wasn't Tropical Experience, but rather spamming PK Flash really quickly guaranteed the game was going to crash. I've changed how it handles getting rid of the fx and seems to okay now.

Right now I tested using it on the normal Tree Guard, I used the move about 6-7 times in succession with maybe a 2-3 second pause inbetween each, and on the 7th it reproduced the same crash log below. The tree guard doesn't really seem to be doing much else other than walking when it crashes.

I am not able to reproduce this crash. If it's happening consistently then I would like a walkthrough of what you're doing to cause it. Right now, my assumption is it has to do with using PK Flash as the coconuts land. The animation for PK Flash is played at a slight delay (a very very small fraction of a second), so it could be possible that the entities no longer exist when it tries to play the animation, but the likelihood of that happening seems so small.

Should be fixed. PK Flash only picks on combat entities but I guess it IS possible for some of those entities to have no health at all. It will account for that now.

I'm under the current assumption that it has something to do with their projectiles as that seems to be when the issue occurs. I also have Tropical Experience | The Volcano Biome installed, and has shown up in 2 of the 3 instances it's happened, so unsure if it's an issue with that mod; if it is, then I don't want to cause too much trouble getting it looked into when it's not on your end
