At first I was very saddened about this, but then I recently discovered the Custom Biome Features mod. I favor playing in the Propane Lakes biome from Alpha Biomes, but the idea behind Propane Lakes is that it is so cold that propane liquifies. It is a more extreme version of Ice Sheet, and thus no roads or rivers can form there either.

I still haven't tested Custom Biome Features myself yet, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention as a possible solution.

@Dualdragon and jimmyal An update on my progress for updating. So for whatever reason, I cannot get an update to not crash. I'm not sure what the issue is/was but after banging my head against the wall trying to fix it for a whole day, I contacted Mlie on 04/15 to make this mod into one of his <Mod> (Continued) as he and his team have a knack for this. At the time he estimated it may take a month or so to update it since he had a backlog of other mods to update still. Since it's been about a month since he and I talked, I assume that we should be seeing that mod anytime and I'll put a link to it in this mod's description. If I don't see it in another month, I'll check in with him on his progress and make an update here as well.

@Trill There's a base cost table that's shown on the second image of this mod's description. Those costs are then elevated if the road is built through difficult terrain such as a swamp or mountain. Unfortunately you cannot see the final costs ahead of time prior to setting up a caravan--it's just not how the original RotR coding was written and I built this mod update off of that base code.

How do i see a cost of a road without already having a convoy on the map? I don't know what to bring to build a road type...

Atleast where the accidental road is can still work, will make it look like a vault symbol when making the next piece to follow island coastline lol

Thanks for the response.

I not only added the mod but removed RotR too using RimPy. I hadn't build anything using RotR.

So far nothing has melted down, no new roads populated, and the only errors I got were related to removing RotR. I'll keep you posted if anything suddenly goes crazy. So far, though, adding this to an existing game that used Biomes! Islands hasn't ruined anything.

@Sarus As far as I know you cannot remove a road, but you should be able to build a better road over the top of an old road, at least if it's a road produced by RRotR. Vanilla roads may not work this way, but they possibly may built over.

@Kill7X It might work that way. I would test it first to make sure before you invest too many hours into a game. Let me know if it does work that way and I can add that to the mod description.

From reading the incompatibility note, it sounds like it's safe to add this mod to an existing game which has Biomes! Islands as world (and therefore road) generation has already taken place.

Is this correct?

I want to make my own roads but it looks like RotR's continued version is in a deprecated state.

@Orange Space Chicken It's aesthetics more than anything. It makes it look like there are more railspurs in certain locations such as near a city.

@#1 Kestrel Fan Do you have "Vehicle Framework" installed as well? and is it up to date? Smash Phil made a compatibility fix in v1.5.1368.

@Vampiresbane thanks. it is such a small change, but it helps take the guesswork out. also like to report that the mod seems to be working well for me, but I am not a heavy mod user. I do find it odd that the first segment of road requires like triple the amount of the rest of the segments, but I am not sure if it is a bug or a feature. It is not a huge problem, but just something that stands out

@The Tomato Man I can take a look at the code next time I'm digging around in it and see if I can change it from "stone" to "blocks". It's definitely blocks that need to be used, not stone chunks.

I don't know how easily this can be changed, but when hovering a road that is planned it says it needs stone, but the build menu shows stone blocks.

@Jordan Davis It's a common problem. I don't know how to code to make a scrollbar and I enlarged the menu. Try changing your monitor size settings. Mine is at 1920x1080 and the menu displays in full.

@Tachtra And sorry for not replying earlier, I never saw your post. Worldgen rails would be AWESOME, but all the roads made during worldgen are vanilla roads only. Not even the original "Roads of the Rim" added any roads during worldgen. As a result, I won't be able to do that since it's much more difficult (not even sure it's possible unless it's made part of the base game).

@Alaskan Bull Walrus You use this by itself. I was having an issue too with the GUI not working. But once i just use THIS ONLY, both roads and railroads worked properly, even with..651 Mods..

@Ombrero Ok added the textures to github so you can download them from there. Link is in the xml guide. Download the "Buildings" folder and place (copy/paste) it in the RRotR/Textures folder.

@Angel Not sure yet. Smash Phil patched RotR(continued) for the same issue and it might have also fixed it for this. Otherwise, we/I may have to remind Phil. He stated below that he was planning on doing during the next patch. In the mean time, regular road building by walking caravans still work.

@Ombrero Found it. There's a folder and file that I also removed. I'll add instructions into the xml guide. But basically you'll be making a folder called "ThingDefs" and a new xml file inside that folder named "RotR_Buildings" with a fairly short xml code in it.

i tried to see on the machining table and fabrication bench, i can't build, neither ISR2G neither AISR2G, even if i have th eresearch unlocked

i also tried to start a new game, but i can't craft it

there's just no ISR2G in Machinig table, if it can help, in the research description of the ISR2G, it doosn't say it unlock a craft (the item isnt show on the research tab, unlike other researches)

@Herry the afro Headcrab, I could and I've thought about it. But as long as I leave the c# for the ISRG it allows folks to just change the xml and put it back in. Plus, it's amazing the # of folks that want it, despite the fact it has issues. I have about as many requests for me to put back in 100% in this mod RRotR as there are complaints that it does not work in the original RotR and the RotR (Continued).
