Project Neutrolope Alternate Textures has been released!

Originally it was going to be a patch for the H.C Animal Reskins Collection. Sadly development and updates for the H.C Textures series has stopped. I got permission from HellCross to use their Boomalope textures as a base template for my Neutrolope textures. Seeing as development and updates for those mods have stopped, I am using these textures I made in a separate mod.

The reason an H.C Reskins patch was only available for such short time was due to a bug. The textures of this mod would spawn inbetween the H.C reskins.

Thank you to Master Of Grey for initially suggesting the patch

Just updated it to 1.6, thank you for asking/reminding me. Not been playing too much of anything these past few months.

I will make sure it is still compatible with A Dog Said once that mod is updated to 1.6
Once Odyssey DLC releases I will make it so they can spawn in the new biomes.

idea: add operation to convert boomalope into neutrolope. takes ~4 non-herbal medicine, and ~12 neutroamine. and ~10 medical skill. failure can cause boomalope to explode.
mod option to make this the only want to get neutrolopes.

HC Patch has been removed until I am able to fix it, might be a while as everything I have tried is not working. I can't find an experienced modder to help either, but I will not stop until its working again.

So I asked Helixien and the mods aren't neccesarily incompatible but Regrowth adds its own Neutrolope to the game, so not incompatible be definition but may be confusing for some.

I also noticed the issue with RimPy, not sure why it says incompatible as the mod works just fine still.

Anyone know why Rimpy says this is not compatible with Regrowth: Core? They seem to spawn fine.

I just uploaded a patch. It might give a red error to some but it is nothing to worry about, the mod still runs as intended, just not all the texture variations will load.

So happy to see this idea revived! Thanks and good luck with your other project! As someone who has done a bit of xml modding in the past, I totally agree on the development-doesn't-respect-timelines bit. :)

@MasterOfGrey They declined my friend request but I asked in the comment section of two mods if I can use the textures and alter them to make a patch. If they say no I will try make my own textures to match, but I wont be able to make new ones until I am finished with my second mod. Hopefully they say yes and then I can have a patch uploaded in the next few days

I will look into this for you, I added the author of H.C_AnimalReskins_Complete for discussion about this. I am currently working on my second mod which should be released in the next month or so. If I am able to I'll release a patch before that mod goes live

Thank you @Planetace for not relenting with this issue.I really appreciate that you brought this to my attention. This was genuinely a bug and the rate at which Neutrolopes were consuming food was much higher than intended.
You have to insert a value which controls it, this is essentially how all animals have different stomach "sizes". I made the value 1.3 because I thought it translated to a nutrition need of 1.3 per day. It has been updated and changed to be more in line with Boomalopes while remaining an aspect of balance.

Boomalope Hunger rate is 0.86, Neutrolopes have above twice that, at about 2.06.

I understand the problem. I just dont know what to say, the amount they eat is the exact same as a boomalope eats, same with the hunger fall rate(this is used to control stomach "size"). I feel like the animal is reasonably balanced.

It offers a product normally only available through trade and is balanced with the cost of food maintenance and it giving less product in terms of raw value than a boomalope. But when you take into consideration that you can use the neutroamine to produce high amounts of value, it nullifies the cost of sustaining the animal. One neutrolope can be sustained by 3 hydroponics basins if you plant rice.

Actually, I think the issue isn't the grazing amount - it's the amount of food they can "store" inside them. Having a high grazing need adds challenge, but if they can hardly store the food itself inside of them, they will endlessly be required to feed else they'll starve quickly. Even a day of no grazing means they begin to starve.

So maybe make it so they can store more food in their stomachs?

@Planetace Their hunger is a form of balance and is no different from how much a normal boomalope eats. Its quite a bit, but it should be worth it for the neutroamine

Can you change the hunger rate for neutrolopes? They require a staggering 2.0 units, causing them to starve exceptionally often.

@ Thundercraft It is indeed sad Babo didnt update the mod. That's why I decided to rewrite it from the ground up(compatibility stuff is the main reason) , so that we can have Legendary neutrolopes again

This is a interesting take, there's a mod that lets you drain boomalopes for their explosive liquid which'll produce neutroglicerin, which you can refine into neutroamine, but having boomalopes produce them directly also sounds fun!
