Glad to hear it! Good news for updates, I was able to fix the graphics issues I was having, I just need to make new weapon sprites for the different arm positions.

Oh, it's not so much pressure, it's just nice to hear that this matters to someone, and it makes me want to come back and get it sorted for the update. I've been busy the past year with my daughter, and this past week has been dedicated to finally getting the house clean, so I haven't started yet. I will get started either this weekend or next weekend depending on family events. I'll update so you aren't left guessing. I certainly can't promise I will get it done on that weekend, it depends how long it takes me to figure out what I was doing wrong the last time I tried to update.

I just got a new PC lastyearorso and finally re-fitted all my DF mods, so I stumbled over the comments in your files and remembered how much I liked the Snorfs. Just wanted to let you know. Also wanted to give you a price but Steam says I already gave you the points-bag so you got the shoting star instead.

The big issue is that I am struggling to get weapon graphics to work after they changed it for adventure mode. I'll figure it out.

Heyho, just wanted to say that I am still in love with these snorfs. They have been the main reason I decided to buy the game to begin with. So, thank you for this mod. I do hope that you will eventually return to it :)

Absolutely! If you're playing with the adventure mode beta, it will run just fine, but I haven't finished the portraits yet. That will be coming soon.

@Swienty they don't require alcohol, so you can have them live on just water if you want. They won't get upset that they haven't drank alcohol in a while.

With that said, they will still get annoyed that they don't have a variety of drinks. If they are made to drink the same drink over and over, they will get mildly upset over that. It's not as big of a deal as the biological need for alcohol that dwarves have, so if you want your snaillings to live on just water, that is totally possible.

@eqN Forgot to mention this back when you originally commented, but unfortunately it is currently not possible to have baby sprites display. The update may have been called the baby update, but the game files defines animal babies as children, and the necessary tags for those already existed, which is why there are children sprites. Until they implement actual baby tags, the issue with children will persist unfortunately.

I am releasing a minor update today, but I had hoped to implement the babies too.

@eqN Thanks for your kind words! I have plans for adding more small things to make the civilization feel more authentic. If I'm really feeling brave, I'll get around to giving them a different government structure to dwarves like I originally planned.

Love that the Snailings have their own specialized domestic creatures and their physical quirkiness. Great to see you're still updating the mod as time goes on! Perhaps we'll see some more unique snail-tech in the future! Definitely giving them a try.

Ok, the issue is fixed for real this time. Bow before my godly powers of moddery. I can assure you, the problem was highly technical and required incredible skill to solve, and was not an extremely stupid oversight that took about 2 seconds to solve.

@brownwood4 what version are you using? That was an issue that I should have fixed in the most recent update. I don't think the update will work on saves from the previous version either. The update was on the 11th tho, so if you started your current world sooner than that, let me know.

I think that will make them part of the pack animal tag for entities, meaning these animals will be in dwarven civs too. I will test to see if I am right.

oh not sure if they are needed but there is also a wagon puller tag, and a pack animal tag. I don't remember the exact names off the top of my head, but they may be need too. not just in the entity file, but on the animal/creature itself. not sure though as i have never made a pack animal yet.

so, the snailing caravans don't come with any goods, my guess is it is because the creatures don't have any trade capacity listed so they can carry 0 things, but that is just a guess.

the modding subreddit hasn't figured out how to make babies work and I suspect they aren't even supported yet. They will remain adults for the foreseeable future sadly. I can't even make them use the child sprite.

The sprites are cute as heck anyway, can't complain too much.

And nah! I was just curious because I had a ton of kids cropping up over the ~9 years I was fiddling with the snail fort (unfortunately had to ditch it because of finding a weird bug with another mod), but 14 seems reasonable enough to me.

@polliwoggi still working on that issue. It's been a thing since I made the sprites. I will figure it out eventually.

they become adults at 14. It's not quite "balanced" to be proportional with dwarves, but it hasn't hurt the gameplay so far as I can tell.

Also, if age becomes an issue, acquire necromancy books and have your fortress transcend mortality.

These guys are great - wanted to note something funny which was just that hatchlings show with the adult sprite, not a child sprite, but then grow up into children (and revert to a smaller sprite). Don't know if there's a way to tell it to use specific sprites for babies in particular, but it's kinda funny as it is.

How old do kids need to be to age up into adults, since they live a much shorter lifespan than dwarves?

They can now see in the dark, thanks for reminding me. Also apparently it was some sort of massive fluke, they are doing fine without the vanilla domestic animals now.

Also, they seem to be missing the [LOW_LIGHT_VISION:10000] that subterranean creatures tend to have.

Have you tried removing their maxage? That should help them in worldgen, and aging isn't really a factor in normal gameplay anyway.
