However, I should point out that the Spectre doesn't have a name string in the Forge menu. Also, I thinkthe map overview image would look better as a a blueprint-ish map of the playable space, rather than a screenshot.
false alarm actually it was just steam workshop being very cool and good
Some things that I have feedback on involve up-time for weapons/vehicles. Most vehicles felt like they respawned far too quickly, with the Wraith and Banshee feeling especially oppressive. Since these vehicles can drastically alter the outcome of a match, their respawn timers should be closer to 3 minutes, IMO. The Warthogs and Choppers could maybe have their timers bumped up a bit, though they didn't feel all too bad.
Finally, the Sniper ammo packs in front of the bases made the Sniper have no downtime at all and made pushes into the enemy base incredibly difficult when they had a skilled player constantly refreshing ammo. I'd suggest removing the ammo packs altogether.
I understand if you would rather leave these things unchanged to keep parity with the H2 version, but I think the map would play much better with these suggestions.
Top level of bases=Sniper Rifle & BR & Carbine & Frag Grenades & Machine Gun Turret.
Middle level of bases=Silenced SMG & Automag & Deployable Cover.
Garage level of bases=Shotgun & Tripmine & Frag Grenades & Missile Pod.
Three rock cluster near each base=Needler & Plasma Grenades & Radar Jammer.
Map centre next to plant=Rocket Launcher with 2 spare clips.
Rocky area you teleport to=Bruteshot & Fire Bombs & Gravity Lift.
Cliffs=Bubbleshield & BR & Plasma Pistol.
Caves=Carbine & Spike Grenades.
P.S. I advise against putting a Spartan Laser.
- Btw when I say the green ground areas should instead be 'tall' dry grass, I mean if a player is crouching they should only be covered about maybe 45% that way they can sneak a little bit like lions on the African plains; but it's not OTT like a field of corn ya know.
- Would be nice if you added a bush/fern where there's one on Blood Gulch.
- At the rocky area you teleport to, there should be a bunch of small moveable boulders scattered around that area.
- As for the bases, maybe a primitive Ancient Human motif could work? Would fit with the cave paintings if you decide to do that.
Yes, the ground geometry has been completely redone. All of the geometry on the map is custom created, but the bases are still left unfinished for this release. I still plan to update the visuals for most of the map in the future.
As for the power drains, they were originally going to be placed where the rocket ammo used to spawn in H2, but they would start rolling downhill after spawning there. Because of that I placed them on the nearest close-to-level surface. The locations of all the weapons, equipment, and vehicles are still being experimented with.
Suggestions:
- The trees should be dead/leafless.
- All the green ground areas should instead be tall dry grass.
- In the caves their should be primitive tribal style paintings on the walls.
- Maybe put an easter egg inscription behind the rock up on the high perch you reach with a Banshee like "1337 WAS HERE".
Issues:
- The decal lights on the bases aren't properly attached to the geometry.
- The placement of the equipment is a bit slapdash/random, like the Power Drain.
